Hopefully after my leopard hunt in Moz next year, I will be down to the last member of the T10, which is the dik dik. I’m looking for recent experiences with them in the last couple of years. Who did you go with? Also, what else was good hunting in that area?

North Central Namibia, near Omaruru, has scads of them. Picture taken on my hunt there in April 2025.

Damara in Namibia? Kirk's in Tanzania? Gunther in Uganda? Lots of Dik Dik... the question is where and which one.

Namibia is probably the most reasonably priced option to get a dik-dik. Technically it should be a Damara for the southern T10. Of course if I was going to one of the other locations that would be an easy add on. I’m thinking the opposite…a trip for dik dik as primary with other add ons as options.

as I’ve said on here before (sorry to be repetitive folks!) I took a Damara Dik Dik near Karibib Namibia with @KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS in May of 2025

it’s only a few hours drive from Philips main camp. He also just hosted @BAYLY SIPPEL SAFARIS and client (owner of Boyd’s gun stocks) so their group could get some Dik Diks to get close to finishing the SCI T10 list. This was just last month

They shot a giant seen here - PH Juan Van Zyl

And just cause I love to look back, here is mine I took at the same area with Philips crew and PH Juan van zyl - you can check out my hunt report on the Dik Dik as well

Namibia 2021 with Drikus Swanepoel, Ekuja safaris.

Also hunted Leopard and elephant with him on two different safaris (2021 and 2025).

I think you are overthinking. Dik dik might be the goal, but it’s not really the animal to build a hunt around. I’ve seen lots of them in Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda. Interestingly, the habitat was nearly identical in all. Flat, semi-sandy, and thick thorny low brush. The hunting style is the same in all. Pick the right road and go on a slow walk or slow drive. It’s a 1 day hunt. You focus on other species before and after.

Agreed. I'd really focus more on the country or area I wanted to hunt most. In my case it would be a hard choice between Masailand and Karamojo, but come to think of it I haven't been to Namibia in awhile. I would like to hunt Hartman's Zebra one more time... but Masailand, no wait Karamojo. Does anyone have a three-sided coin to flip?

Omatjete Safaris can find you a Damaraland dik-dik and Hartmann's mountain zebra. Lots of other quality animals too. I've hunted with them and they are first class. Great hunting, great people and very good hosts.

I just hunted them this week with three sixty safaris. Carel Alberts is the outfitter/ph. A wonderful mom and pop outfit. I bet I saw 100 dik dik. I also hunted 2 hartman mountain zebra. The property was big and beautiful. The canyon on it would be a national park in the USA. Also saw lots of kudu, duiker, eland, steinbok, klifspringer, and I took a good black wildebeest. He hunts all over Namibia. Hes very successful with leopard too. Has access to hippo, elephant, buffalo, crocs, etc too. So really with planning you could add just about anything to a dik dik hunt.

I have gemsbok and mountain zebra on the list and would like to see Namibia. Getting a bonus hippo would be nice to finish my dangerous 7 list.
