The tint is much higher than my two HS’s and I agree with you!I prefer the grain you have and the deep reddish tint. To the higher grade

Ha! I suffer from the same disease…Look what you’ve done to me Franz! lol!!!
Might want to look at a suppressorLet me know about the recoil when you get a chance to shoot it. I am looking for a Big 5 rifle. I was in a bad accident last year and badly shattered my right arm. I have some hardware so its strong but my hand is weak. When I shoot my 375 the trigger guard hits my fingers. 404 might be as big as I can go.
I have really turned to the PH model since buying my 375. Alot of the PH models have the red straight grain wood and to me just look more like an old classic Rigby.Beautiful rifle. I love my PH as much as the regular BG.

I was surprisingly amazed at the recoil in a good way! I am not sure what the Rigby PH BGR in 404 weighs, but it feels rather heavy in a good way especially with the Swaro Z8i+ on it. As I have said before, I think it will become my favorite of my 4 Rigby's given it will take anything on this earth up to and including elephant.Might want to look at a suppressor
Cuts recoil by half
Franz, you know you really should get a match set of the PH models, one in 450 Rigby and one in 404J. Send that ol' hog's ear of a 416 BGR north to Alaska, I'll take care of it for you. I mean...I still love my rifle, so damn accurate, and thought it was so damn pretty...that was until I saw yours.Ha! I suffer from the same disease…
It was funny this morning I was looking over a 416 Taylor that is coming to auction and had to go remind myself about its origins, which made me laugh to myself just a bit and think of the 404J. It was google-described as a 1970's cartridge, born of the goal to fit 416 Rigby-like ballistics into a standard action, dispensing with the need for the true magnum length Mauser action. And went on to talk about he success in reaching near Rigby downrange results. I was like hhmmmmm.....ALL of that sounds like the 404J with just a smidge more diameter.I was surprisingly amazed at the recoil in a good way! I am not sure what the Rigby PH BGR in 404 weighs, but it feels rather heavy in a good way especially with the Swaro Z8i+ on it.
