Surprised given the problems with dromedarys and camels that they have over there.

Bob, if you are referring to the "Tuff" bars? Their original design was illegal in all states as it did not comply with ADR rules. Top frames on bumpers are illegal in many countries due to pedestrian protection requirements. Australia recognised that there was a legitimate need for "Bull Bars" so the ADR was written to allow them - but the top frame must follow the original contour of the car. That means the top frame must slope back towards the bonnet. The original Tuff bars used to slope forward to push what they hit down (under the vehicle) which is illegal in all states. Their current product now complies to the ADR - the number of uprights on the topframe is not restricted in the ADR rules.

A while back the did a helicopter cull on camels. The found the cot wasn't worth the effort. For the time flown and Camels harvested I think it was something like $4,000 / camel.

That's why the idiot govt introduced bars with FUPS ( Front Under run Protection System). The all had to have a slope at the bottom going back towards the rear of the car. So instead of the bar pushing or defecting the object away from the car, the new system is designed to let things be directed under the car. Be that pedestrian or animal. So instead of getting thrown to the side of the road or caught on the bar the seemed it better to go under the vehicle. So said human will go under the car and be ripped to pieces on the bitumen and underneath the car. A Wombat under the car can easily flip it and a decent size roo will do massive damage.
So things just can't be explained.

My 4x4 with the WA illegal tuff bar. Legal in all other states.
Yes I know it's not my beloved NISSAN. Due to my knees I had to upgrade (supposedly) to an auto and cruise control. Shock horror it's a Ford but I'm adjusting to it.
Someone said now I own a ford next you will be buying a 243. That silly person will be having their meals thru a straw for a while for such horrible degradation.

Interesting, I had one of those forward sloping Roo bars on my old ute & thought it a better idea than the Roo coming in the windscreen like it did in my Old EH Holden, because we always hit the brakes the front goes down & the Roo comes up !!

One Old Gin was saying that there were far more Crocs now than in her Great Grandmothers day (how would she know) but it is possible as far more food for Crocs in these modern times with all the ferals & Cattle ?

Yes there should be a season & quota, it has been mentioned & purposed since the 90s, the Irwins helped stopped one lot years ago but the NT government was throwing huge TF around many many thousands, far more than a African Croc hunt !

This would get the job done Bob !

I was not asking why a bull bar
But why they made a law on a bull bar.

Most of the ones I have had were home made. And stared with a 4in or 6in well pipe
I don’t have a bar on the blazer but a1/4 sheet steel bumper about 4 in whith all across the front of it.
And yes I have used it and other to actually move bulls around

I have a buddy that works for the rd department
He took old rd scraper blades ( the bottom replacement pice)
And made his. Ended up putting a 3 in lift to get the front end back up

Doesn't that lower bar cause problems off road?...looks very low.....also here in the rains it would be ploughing through the mud etc.... be a problem

With a 2" lift and slightly bigger tyres all should be fine. My Nissan was the same height off the ground and it went everywhere.
The ford with low range and diff lock should get me where ever I will need to go and hopefully get me back like my old Nissan did

Well to be honest I had a ford ranger that would take me about any where
But that was a ranger trim leavle not the small truck. 400 cid that had been worked on 40 in ground hoggs and 4.56 gears with min spools.

Just would not pass a gas station 6 mpg
