What four calibres would you choose

Thankfully our state governmant has just confirmed no limits at this stage. Hopefully this helps cement the resistance for all the states that have said no to limits.
Last licence update I changed my reason for needing a licence to Primary Production given what WA had done. With Primary production I would have been limited to 10, and that would have been difficult to decide which ones to sacrifice.

22 LR. Plinking
22-250. Varmints and ground squirrels
300 Win Mag. Most game plus bears
416 Rigby Big dangerous quarry, especially cape buff and elephant

My son will keep his shotgun, REM 788 in 222 REM, Howa 308 and his Lithgow 22.

Where I see a problem is say you have a single shot like a K95 or similar and you have six barrels in different calibres is that then one rifle or 6.
The firing mechanism in in the but stock section and the barrels are independent items.
Can I have a Savage bolt gun ( because it's easy to do a barrel change yourself) with a few barrels. I have a Savage chambered for 35 Whelen and a spare 270 barrel. Is that 2 rifles or one. I can only have one barrel on the action at a time. No one has been able to answer that one.

I've been wondering the same thing id spend the extra money on a rifle if I could use a switch barrel system

It was passed thru Parliament late at night when everyone just wanted to go home. It was done to appease Joe public and the Jewish community.

We are pushing back but it may be to late because of the govt tactics. Scare the public, put the bill thru late at night so no one can get a chance to complain and rush it thru before any consultation and then have the nerve to say look how safe we have made your community. We have penalized all these law abiding citizens to limit gun ownership but we haven't penalized the criminals who committed these crimes, but we have given you a safer community.

Well said, I marched in Melbourne after the port Arthur shooting,on the News they said only a few thousand people,it was over 100000 and that was Melbourne
They had protest marches in most of the capital cities.
Still didn't make a difference
 
As much as I dispise the idea of being limited like this I do enjoy the brain exercise of making these decisions. Taking out the idea of rimfire and a shotgun opens up significantly more options as for me a 22 magnum and 20 gauge always make my lists.

As it sits now and given my location in the western US my list would be as follows.

6.5cm for use on mule deer down to varmits and competitive shooting. I could also substitute a 6mm arc or CM into this position happily but the 6.5cm is an easy button.
7mm PRC for those times where deer and elk are to be hunted. Suitable substitution would be the 7mm rem mag and 280 AI. All carry exceptional "thump" out past 500 yards and are easy to shoot well.
300 PRC strictly for the big critters and eventually Alaska. Substitutions would include a ccustom 300 RUM or 338 RUM/Edge. The 338 Lapua would not make my cut strictly for the larger diameters of the cartridge.
9.3x62 for closer quarters use and the bigger species of Africa. I know some countries frown upon its use for DG but it would suit me in those areas it is allowed. Reasonable substitutions would be the 375 H&H or 375 Ruger.

When they took our semi autos away I said if'n I can't put a lot of little holes in critters then I will put big holes in them so I went for the 444 Marlin then the Whelen.

I use thumper as a justification for having a large rifle around the theory is I might need it going in after a wounded bear. Though in all honesty n.s. Bear don’t really justify a thumper and could just as easily be taken with .308 we’re just not telling my wife that.

I remember when Joe was in the sign on the gate said you are now entering QLD turn your clocks back 50 years.
He was the only politician to have a sun roof in the floor of his car because the sun shone out of his arse. QLD didn't get daylight savings because of that . Seeing the sun shine out of Joe's arse he wasn't getting up an hour early for any one.
Despite his issues he wasn't a bad politician for a peanut farmer.

Who says size doesn't matter, biggest I ever owned was a Ruger number 1 in 460 Wetherby
Was brought for a buff hunt that never happened.
Did shoot a Sambar spiker with it
Used a reload with a 350gr Hornady, I think from memory was doing about 2900 fps.
I do like putting big holes in things at times lol
