What four calibres would you choose

I'm from North East Victoria on the Murray, I was living on the central coast not far from Newcastle, had to shift back down to look after my mum

Grew up and live in Zimbabwe, I think I could get my armory down to only two for pretty much everything I would ever need.

.22lr and .375H&H

Ok, I’ll throw a .308 in there just because of how nice it is to shoot. But I don’t NEED it :ROFLMAO:

Are you limited to how many you can own

- CZ457 22lr for plinking, training, and small stuff
- Remington 700BDL 30.06 antelope, deer, small African plains game
- 300 Weatherby Magnum elk, moose, black bear, bigger African plains game
- 416 Taylor grizzly, African dangerous game

Nah, not really. Its just a matter of getting the license, which here means proving why you need the gun. And then you have to renew the license every year. And we are limited to how many rounds we can purchase on a license for that year, depending on your license type usually around 50 rounds per year

You can reload in zim though yes?

I'm going to have to think through this question a bit more and reserve the right to change my picks. I've recently decided that I need to try and limit myself to 4 bolt action rifle cartridges. Issue is the practicality perspective vs favorites... And that so many items in the current stable actually overlap.

I currently have about 13 cartridges with way too much overlap in performance... And often in bolt and single shot.

From my current crop of stuff for my anticipated needs over the next 10 years with an aspect of pure practicality.

22 Long Rifle
223 Remington
308 Winchester
35 Whelen

Even though I use a 7-08 most of the time, even in Africa. I could also switch out the 308 for a 30-06 if forced to reload and use the 30-06 cases for 35 Whelen.

If rimfire is not included in the list:

223 Remington
308 Winchester
35 Whelen
357 Magnum

Yes, that we can do. Have to import everything, but it’s doable. My cousin reloads all his calibers

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
