After almost 3 years, it's time

I'm dealing with Wyatt at SSI as well, and expecting my crate to arrive within the next 30-45 days. My wife and I hunted with Kuche in July of 2023, I've detailed my frustrations on another thread. Hopefully the nightmare will soon be over!

PS-- Do we have the same profile pic? haha

Very close lol. We are a bit frustrated with the T/A on the taxidermy with them as well. Wyatt is doing a great job. I'll give more details when this is all said and done.

If you still have questions about toal price of shipping, dealing with Kuche, etc. feel free to shoot me a DM. I'll show you how things tallied up for me.

Myself and 3 buddies have this trip booked for early 2027. Just wondering your thoughts on picking up DGA’s on this trip. Did it feel like the animals were actually wild. I just not want to spend the money on DGA’s that are beside the road ready to take sugar cubes from tourist. I understand it is all high fence.

Shoot me a message.

Still waiting for my 2024 tusks from Botswana, US fish and Wildlife Disservice, told conservation force a few days ago that it was still under review. A disgusting bunch of bullshit in my opinion.

Well, it APPEARS that all four of my parties crates are finally with the shipping company. Wyatt is waiting on some last final paperwork before the next step becomes heading to the airport.

So far, Wyatt has been top notch and I am very grateful to be working with him.

Allegedly our crate has been in the SSI bonded warehouse at JFK since late Feb. Still waiting on Customs to give the final blessing before it can be shipped to me. I check in every few weeks and keep getting the "expecting it this week or next" response.

This is unacceptable for a government agency! Hope you get your crate soon.

The more I read shit like this the less likely I am to ever do anything other than take pictures overseas. The whole taxidermy process and cost is asinine.

Not sure if these cases are the exception or the rule.
I’ve had 5 crates shipped over and never a glitch other than Covid. With that being said I have my 6th crate coming in August or September so maybe the laws of averages will catch up with me this year.

Is this in relation to the government shutdown and what not?

I will say, thank god he has a bonded warehouse.

It has definitely given me a bit of pause in terms of when/where/what I will go back for. I will 100% go back, I know that. I don't know if it's worth just going back for a PG safari with 4-5 animals.

My heart is set on a fair-chase buffalo. I may go back just for that and maybe add a PG animal should one offer the opportunity.

I'd be looking at outfitters with quick dip and pack turnaround, probably have the mounts done stateside.

In fairness, this situation is due mostly to the particular outfitter and is not necessarily indicative of the industry as a whole.

I hadn't thought about it before, but that would make sense. I'm just hoping it arrives before we actually hit 36 months...

I know CBCP along with DHS was affected. Which is actually insane to think how much it would be if he didn't have the bonded warehouse.

I had my capes and horns back within just a few months (6) from South Africa.

I'm in the same boat; my 2024 trophies are still not ready from the taxidermist.

Mine were finish taxidermy with Lauriston, 3 pedestals, rug, 7 shoulder mounts. They were stateside in 7 months.
Would you mind sharing the pics? My wife and I are likely using Lauriston. Flying out this Saturday for our hunt.

I had Lauriston mount my 2018 animals, they turned out good except for a full body baboon was missing the prominent nasal ridges running down the muzzle. Other than that I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
Who are you hunting with?
In one picture the mt reedbuck, common reedbuck, bushbuck, bushpig, impala and waterbuck were mounted by Lauriston.
The other picture the kudu, bush duiker and steenbok were mounted by them.

Gents forget taxidermy and just take great pictures. Saves a ton of money and hassle.
