I have 3 custom hunting rifles on Mauser actions: I am in the process of attempting to negotiate a sale of all of my rifles as a lot. Although the buyer is a major franchise they seem not to know as much as I do, so yes I am in pretty deep. I have had a stroke and have some pretty serious cognitive issues. I would like to know the type of Mauser action, whatever makers information is from the markings. Approximate ages, I understand there were multiple series by FN like 300 series, 400 series and Supreme. I am sure there are a lot more. 2 of these rifles are probably from the 1950s or 1960s. One is potentially older. If you can help I will disassemble the rifles to get the markings and pictures associated for identification. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I may be able to help, and there are others here much more knowledgable on Mauser actions, but I feel confident in saying that we will need better close up pictures of actions to give you any usefull information. The scope bases may be covering identifying marks as well.

Yes, thank you I will start disassembling them tomorrow and get better pictures. As for the scope bases we may be screwed on those. I think the old boy used loctite on the bases. I tried to take a couple off and the screws were going to strip before they even thought about turning. I promise you much better pictures tomorrow. I do greatly appreciate you input and help

Here are 3 pictures of my complete unknown, I will have to get more pictures of the action tomorrow when I disassemble it again. One is factory stamps and one of the trigger. thank you once again

To loosen up the scope base screws, I would hold a hot soldering to the head of each one for several minutes and see if that melts the thread adhesive enough to break the screw loose.

They do look like nice rifles, and good luck with your sale.

Well, those proof marks are Belgian.
Beyond that, which isn’t much, I can’t say.
You will need to provide more/better photos for anyone to say what the origins of the actions are.

I apologize for the delay on the additional photos. Here are more pictures of the action. If you need anything more specific please feel free to ask. Thank you

Here's the thing with your rifles. They appear to be quality pieces that are nicely done. The value is in the entire rifle, the specifics on the Mauser action each was built with is mostly academic and really has minimal effect on the value of each piece. If you pull the scope mounts off and pull the actions out of the stocks there is a very good chance members here could identify each action. However ask yourself if it is worth the trouble ? They appear to be custom rifles, the specifics of the Mauser action used to build the custom rifles really is kind of irrelevant in the scheme of things. Unless your buyer is adamant that he needs to know each action, I personally would not worry about it. With that being said, with the Belgian proofmarks on at least one action makes me believe it is a commercial FN action.

I greatly appreciate your input. Unfortunately my buyer is pretty adamant on the details. In my opinion they are offering fair money based on my investment. Also one of the rifles they wanted to buy I had difficulty getting them to accept that it had an FN Supreme action and not a Yugo variation. They are pretty set on purchasing 3 of the rifles. The remaining 5 we have a somewhat lack of interest in but are willing to look at them and make offers. 2 of the rifles I need to make chamber cast for because I do not have any caliber markings.

With this in mind, I would start by pulling the actions out of the stock. That is less invasive/ easier than removing scope bases. If they are all commercial actions they should have identifying proof marks and or country of origin under woodline. Zastavas usually have "Yugoslavia" or Serbia on the action near trigger. FNs may say "FN" or have Belgian proof marks. The pictures you show do not have a thumb cutout on left action wall, so if all three are that way that generally indicates a commercial action, of which FN, Zastava, and Spanish Santa Barbara are the most common. The FNs are the most desired, then Zastava, and Santa Barbara the least. I am not an FN expert, though I have a couple. I am not aware of the "Supreme" moniker applied to actions, just used as denoting grades of finished FN rifles.

I'm not even close to an expert. Where the Supreme came in is that I have a rifle with a Sako trigger and FN action. I saw that Sako used to sell unbranded rifles made with Mauser actions so I went to a Sako forum. Somebody there told me that there were 300 400 and Supreme series actions the Supreme was top of the line and that my rifle did have a Sako trigger but it would be an upgrade and not a Sako rifle. Actually it was just a high quality custom rifle. No parent company to associate with it.

I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary
