I am enjoying crappie right now--too bad they can't be bought....they have to be caught, and they are the best there is.
My grand daughter's unconditional love.
A faithful wife
Painted sunsets
Reasonably good health with which to hunt and fish!
The blessing of God on my life

My dogs. Okay, they're not cheap. But they're worth every penny. Just dropped $7K last month to have another cancer tumor removed from my French Brittany. First big one was taken off three years ago at $12K. That tumor just about took her. Drove nine hours through the snow storm of the century to get her to an ER in Minneapolis. Spent fives time more on my dog than the vehicle I bought two years ago. But the Envoy doesn't find birds or give me love every morning. She'll be fifteen in May.

I think the number one thing would be a good wife. You can be the richest man in the world, but if you are married to (or with) the wrong person you can have the most miserable life imaginable. Similarly, you can be dirt poor and if you have an awesome spouse, you can feel much richer than you are.

Health if you are lucky enough to have it is a great runner up, but money can improve this for a lot of people as well. However, money can't fix all of health problems yet, so it makes the list.

Christian community… I agree with Sabre about the blessings of a good wife (Proverbs 18:22) but my community group enriches my life tremendously. We don’t “go to church together” we do life together like close/healthy family. They support us and even challenge us to live life well, keep our focus on Jesus, and build strong families. Knowing that we have people who are that close and trusted is invaluable! In fact, I’m going on our first trip to Africa with one of those families in June!

My freedom (okay, technically money can make it easier to live life on your own terms).

Seeing my parents, children & grandchildren regularly.

Spending time with the woman I love (I suppose that in some small corner of my mind I subconsciously regret not pursuing her romantically after my divorce when we were both young; especially considering that I never knew that she also felt the same way about me).

Spending time with people who appreciate me.

Taking my German Shepherds out on a walk.

I am grateful for the way I was raised. . .
I was taught to work hard, care for my body. I was brought up not just to simply trust in the Lord but to seek Him.
I have skills that are best learned growing up on a farm-something I wish I had to offer my own children!
I love and appreciate animals and birds and plants and have a respect people who work harder than I do.
And I learned to handle hunting guns and hunting dogs and they are still the biggest part of my life.
My wife and kids are still teaching me patience and how to speak softly, some things will always be a work in progress. . .

@Wildwillalaska , they say a dog often looks like its owner. Yours may hold true

I hope that isn’t true because my dog is often thought of as homely.

When I first got out of high school and went to work before I started college a friend told me that money can't buy happiness, and while he is right you can't do very much without money. I also learned that most of those who said that have enough money to do pretty much all that they want to do in the first place.

So after working my rear off for 40 or so years and I finally retired I just like heading into the woods and finding a nice quiet spot where I can sit down and just watch things. I have a ledge that I can sit on for hours and watch animals down below for hours.

At 63 still be able to walk all day in Africa carrying a 10.5lbs double rifle..

And my faith..

Wife's and daughters unconditional love.

Faithful wife, who is still hot. somehow she looks at my fat ass and still sees love.

Good in laws

Good sunset walks with the wife.

German holidays when there is zero traffic

Cool evenings and mornings.

Most other things I enjoy cost too much.

Hunting

Buying guns

Reloading

fishing.

1) my savior Jesus Christ who paid everything for me and I love more than myself
2) all my family
3) the sound of a turbo-charged diesel engine under the strain of a heavy burden
4) the smell of my baseball glove
5) seeing the quiet satisfaction on the face of someone who is very, very good at what they do complete a task beyond my ability or imagination
6) listening to a cow/ewe/mare “greet and talk” to their newborn as they clean off the baby

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?
