Let's see some Big Bore Lever Guns

My 2 bigger levers.

.356 WCF (I reckon this cartridge is under-appreciated and .45-70 (marlin).

in reply to scope mounting, below is a picture of a Turnbull 475 with a rail mounted on the barrel that Turnbull fabricated for me when the did the conversion. Not the final scope that will go on there. I have a much smaller lower magnification Leupold for that. I use the 3-12 Burris for load development.

Terrible picture, but you will get the idea.

Marlin like action?
Yes, it was originally done with some concepts Marlin had put together, but required further honing. So now he can build the full action and make certain parts out of titanium to handle the Bushwacker. In which he told me he was also able to make it a takedown. In which the first rifle had 3 different magazine tubes and barrels, with one being 500 Bushwacker, the 2nd being 500 S&W, and the 3rd being 45 Raptor.
Absolutely amazing what he's putting together!

I need another lever like I need a good case of the clap…this 1895 may push me to the ol’ penicillin swab

It was funny the guy posted crappy pictures of the 1886 45-90 .The case harding looked rusted or worn in the pictures .The gun looked brand new when I picked it up .A 80 year old guy sold it to a sporting goods shop who hung it on the wall .His dad a origin.ally bought the gun and kept it in the bank vault and cleaned it every year .The guy i got it from saw it on the wall at the gun store kept it two years sold it to me .
I kept looking for a good 1895 405 also this one is like new .I regretred not buying two I found in Alaska one original that was lile new

This post reminded me that I need to take some pictures in the near future of my big bore leverguns.

Got 2 1895 Marlins modified for 45-90 and 510 Kodiak Express (50-110)
1894 Marlin in 50 AE, stretched action to 1.9" OAL
BHA 500 S&W

Looks like another gentleman has talked me into a marlin-like action that can handle the 500 bushwacker. Noted he was getting a hardcast 700 gr bullet to 2700 fps in a 26 inch barrel...I think that'll just about do it!

Levers are what I grew up on and still one of my favorites to handle!
@AustinM
Man 2,700fps with a 700 grainer in a lever is going to have some recoil. Hope it ain't got a curved steel but plate.
Man that makes a 460 Weatherby look like a pg cartridge..
Bob

Midbore but a little powerhouse savage 99 in 358 win this one I have not shot hopefully soon .I also have 3 big bore 94s in 375 win my favorite .The one thats a real underrated big bore is model 94 big bore angle eject in 444 marlin .It was a bear guides rifle he finished off a bunch of wounded bears for clients that wounded some big bears .He said that little 444 killed every one with one shot using hornady 265 gr interlock hornady bullets he loaded .You can load up this rifle with some big tough bullets its equal to the 405 win but in a 7 shot 6 pound model 94 win .I might sell these two awesome rifles just too many calibers and bullets to fool with they both have awesome knockdown power .

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
