Does anybody have experience with one of these? I have a friend that has one for sale wanting to learn more about it. Thinking about making him an offer.

Have never heard of a 450-500. I wonder if its something similar to a 500/450 or perhaps an unrelated cartridge? A quick google search left me confused :ROFLMAO:.

I dont know much about the company, but their website shows some very nice looking guns. https://www.watsonbrosgunmakers.com/

considered a “Primary” maker from London. So I assume high quality at date of manufacture. I don’t know what tier they would be slotted in.

450-500 ??? perhaps a "Typo"
Watson is a very well known English maker especially small bore shotguns I have seen a few Watson Double Rifles both spectacular both made on Webley Screw grips
The collective on this site would be better informed if we could see pics of the Rifle, Barrel Flats (proof marks), Maker's address on the top of barrels ..
If this is your first foray into Double Rifles and you are close to purchasing, the Rifle should be checked by either a Smith or someone who understands Doubles... Stock Fit, Trigger Pulls, On/Off Face, Barrels and Rib Integrity
Ammo availability may be a deciding factor, if you are a hand loader some of those problems will be solved...
Good Luck let us know

Address was 4 Pall Mall London

Says 400 under the forearm? On barrels or?

Take the gun down and look on the barrel flats. Watson made some really cool rifles back in the day, especially the styling of some with bolstered side frames. I personally love the bulges.

First you need to sort exactly what chambering the gun is and if black powder or cordite (nitro express). Barrel flats is the best place to start. Post a photo if you can and folks here can tell you way way more information from proof marks on.

If the barrels are marked 400ex, that would be the Jeffery 400 express, ie 450/400 3”, but normally would see a cordite charge next to it too. Without more, thinks it closer to an outright guess than anything.

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
