Man after my own heart .....never spent money on PG riflesThis year (In 23 days!) I'm taking a Sako AV 375 HH and a Husky 6.5x55 for my first Buff and opportunistic PG. The Husky shoots lights out and was $500. I think I'm more excited to be taking it than the 375!
I usually take a 300 win mag for PG and either 375 or 416 for DG. I've never regretted that combo.
...back in the old rigby days when Paul owned it and I used to be there a lot ...Paul agreed those 2 were probably the best 2 calibres...also used to take a 9422m in 22 mag which he also agreed with
Awesome combo!I cheat a bit... my 2 rifle/3 caliber, anything anywhere, battery.
Top is a Sauer 404 with barrels in 375 H&H and 300 Win mag. Scopes are in QD mounts. 2-16 GPO for the 300 and a 2-12 & 1-5 Leupold for the 375.
Bottom is a Krieghoff in 450/400 3" for up close and personal engagements. ☺

BUT…one of these days I want to take this custom Mauser G33/40 in 280 Ackley built by Bill Dowtin. I bought it with intents of using it for plainsgame, but I just don’t target plainsgame enough to need a dedicated rifle and have a hard time leaving my Rigby at home.
I’m sure there would be lots of volunteers for a project like this. @Wildwillalaska
Seeing as you don't use it enough to target plains game I have a brilliant idea.
Send it over to me and I will give it a workout in Australian game and let you know how it goes.
Testing may take a while but I will return it, promise.
