Which firearm do you have to most fun shooting

My Marlin (Ruger) Trapper 45-70 with a suppressor and home rolled sub-sonic loads is my go-to plinking gun.

This is followed closely by my precious W.J. Jeffery 8-bore 3.25" double rifle. Usually both guns come out at the same time.

With all the SHOT show videos and ads for new gadgets and guns being posted - what do you have the most fun with? What rifle/pistol/shotgun brings you the most smiles? For me it’s probably my Vudoo 22 when my kids and I are competing against each other. Yes I love my 375 H&H and my 450 Alaskan; enjoy shooting clays; shoot NRL Hunter; am drawn to the lines and machine work of top shelf 1911s; marvel at freedom arms revolvers and the feel of my Parkwest single shot, but that little 22 always produces a lot of smiles and goes through a lot of ammunition.
Like you, I love my big game rifles, but for just plain shooting fun, you can't beat the .22s. I have a CZ 452, a 10/22 and.my dad's old Marlin lever complete with tang peep. When we had public shooting days at the range, the old Marlin is the one everyone wanted to shoot! I've had a lot of fun with all three. Sadly, the county shut down our range.

I just want to KNOW FOR CERTAIN if you are set in your opinion about the 243.
@steve white
100% certain on that
If'n my son bought a 243( which I know he won't) he would have to get a separate safe to keep it in. I don't want no 243 contamination in my safe.

The closest I came was reloading some 95gn SSTs for some friends that worked well but they were more expensive than 87gn soft points so they wanted me to load them after the SST. I never did

Slugs, I'd use. Too many deer lost in Ontario with buckshot. My cousin swithed to ww 3" fosters & quit losing deer. 1 shot, dead deer.
My 25" Mossy puts 5 3" WW 1 oz Fosters @1,750fps into 2" elbow rest at 30yds. Same accuracy with Qualandy DGS slugs at 1,610fps.493gr.(Challenger Ammo)
@Daryl S
My old Mossberg maverick with a 22" modified choke and a red dot will cut clover leaves at 50 and 3"groups at 100 using sellior and bellot 3" mag slugs. That thing weighs under 7# and recoil gets your attention very quickly.

I bought a 22 Browning auto because they are so cute, and this one had a factory octagonal barrel which they have never made as a model for sale. It was a run of less than a dozen as concept guns at the shot shows. You would think I liked shooting it more....I don't know how to explain it, but the downward ejection and noise going downward just throws me off. It's like hearing a gun go off from around the corner of a building. Noise is less, but it feels unnatural not to have a bang go off by my ear. If you wear a dress short sleeve shirt, it will put a hot empty in your sleeve every once in a while.
The other issue is it's just too nice, too new, and too rare. Otherwise, it's as fun as the old Browning carnival guns.

Have you tried shooting the mad minute with it yet. That's fun
Bob

I haven't mate...
I've read up on it and seen videos of people doing it on YouTube, but haven't tried it myself.
I reckon there'd be a bit of an art to it though...

What a ripper.

Is that your new Geelong Grammar Special?

Yes mate, it is (y)
I had been after a full wood .303 for a while and knew that I would eventually see the right rifle at the right price.
And then this one popped up. It was the right price and was in my area which made it nice and easy. And then to find out that it was one of the Geelong Grammar School cadet rifles (and so marked on the stock) that just sealed the deal.
It's nice to have a rifle with a bit of local history.

I'm still playing around with different loads etc... to get it to group how I'd like, but that's all part of the fun with old rifles like these (y)

I enjoy all my guns but I especially enjoy shooting my 9x56MS Mannlicher Schoenauer model 1905. It is like holding history in my hands.
I enjoy Mannlichers so much I almost take for granted that is what is going to be In my hand when I actually hunt. (I thought the thread was more about doing a bunch of SHOOTING which can be a separate, higher volume thing than hunting....) Yeah, if you're talking about hunting only, MS all the way.

Plus, if we're not talking rifles only, then shotgun is most used, recreational shooting included. That would be a light 12 ga drilling I love.

As has been said, I honestly enjoy every one. If I have to pick the favs, one is easy because I spend the most time shooting it due to the sport, Sporting Clays. That’d be my 12 ga. Beretta Silver Pigeon.

Next, and this was said early in the thread, it’d have to be my newest gun, an AR-15 556. It’s smooth and easy and inexpensive to squeeze rounds and shoot and move…just good fun. Active, takes work and technical know how to develop proficiency, and like all things shooting there’s infinite room for improvement.

Finally, I’d say whichever rifle I’m getting ready for my next Africa trip is next! Usually my 7 mag and either my Ruger RSM 375 H&H or Winchester Model 70 416 REM Mag.

Ok,I can keep going, my new Beretta A400 Xtreme when the ducks are flying. My Silver Pigeon when it’s cold and the pheasant are holding. My S&W M&P Compact 9mm with laser / light and upgraded flatty trigger doing shoot and move drills at the range…that’s about enough for now

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
