Looks like a 25% tax rate from 250,000 and upWilliam Evans will survive for the time being. Taxes have apparently become ridiculous in London. In the states, we may very well see similar happenings in New York City etc. In short, the power to tax is the power to destroy. I’m quite certain I read that somewhere.![]()
If I'm not mistaken they were rebadged Rizzini's. Good guns, I have one, but I wouldn't have paid a premium just to put a British name on it.To be fair, William Evans is closing its London shop, and will continue to operate out of offices in Surrey.

It is sad, but only to a certain extent. The business has, for a long time now, relied on filling its extremely expensive premises in the heart of St. James with gun shop tat - overpriced and dubious clothing (including those ugly fleece 'gillets' with leather trimming), weird accessories (backgammon sets, shot glasses), and so on - rather than actually selling properly-made guns. The guns that it did sell were rebranded Italian-made shotguns, laser-engraved, and with a hefty mark-up: certainly no-one will miss those.
Its lease has obviously come to an end. It is a victim of the UK's disgraceful gun laws that progressively squeeze legal gun ownership, our stupid socialist overlords, but, more than anything, its own bad management. It is possible to make money in the UK gun trade, as Rigby and Westley Richards demonstrate, but it requires a more entrepreneurial approach than simply hoping for passing American tourists to equip themselves with (thin) tweed shooting suits.
When was NYC wonderful? It was ruled by a Dutch despot, was the world center for slavery (42% of households), then a center of indentured servitude filled with more sweat shops then any other city in history. Moving on, massive immigration after a 1776 fire grew large ethnic enclaves that created unprecedented gangland territories and violence, draft riots, massive organized crime, and half a population that can't drive, much less pop the hood. NYCers have the least connection to any form of nature than anywhere else I've seen. Even in other enormous cities, like Tokyo, people have 1x2m gardens in the craziest places. About the only thing they've fixed is they are no longer the worst crime rate in the country. It is a powerhouse, for sure. Fine dining of every kind. No doubts there. I guess I just missed when the wonder was.You could burn down London and NYC and as long as the Rats and those who have destroyed those
once wonderful cities burn with them, I would not care.
Man I love NYC. I don't want to live there but that is true of tons of towns. But for a visit, the art museums, Broadway, Carnegie Hall, the food obviously. Tack on Ellis Island the the Statue of Liberty and shops of all kinds. I could say the same of Paris or Rome or ...When was NYC wonderful? True story. I'd also like to see the city stickers be out calving our heifers theough all this winter storm. No one gets a "snow day" on the ranch when animals depend on you.William Jennings Bryan Quotes
Burn down your cities and leave our farms, and your cities will spring up again as if by magic; but destroy our farms and the grass will grow in the streets of every city in the country.

There are 31 flavors at Baskin Robins for a reason.
Ain’t that the truth. I’m out every day shortly after dawn watering and feeding animals and this little snow storm that recently captivated the hearts of many Americans didn’t change that one little bit. I’ve been breaking ice and hauling water in single digit temps for the last week. Animals gotta eat and drink no matter the weather. Not complaining though. It’s worth it to get to live where I live and how I live.True story. I'd also like to see the city stickers be out calving our heifers theough all this winter storm. You know how somw folks say, "family is like fish -- good for 3 days"...well my family is more like sushi. Good for 3 hours!People love seeing their in-laws for holidays, doesn't mean they want them to move in ;-)
My next trip over to Africa ,I was considering going through London and overnight stay, to avoid the long 16 + hour flight straight through from ATL. But now I wonder If it is even a safe thing to spend an evening out in the streets of London to visit the museums and shops. Appreciate any thoughts. You could burn down London and NYC and as long as the Rats and those who have destroyed those

I like Vegas too...but I shouldn't stay longer than 2 days, 3 max.
I’ve done this twice, most recently in December 2023 without any issues. Took the girlfriend to the markets and the touristy stuff, then met up with a college buddy who now works in his firms London office, and another friend from London for drinks at visited a bunch of pubs with them.My next trip over to Africa ,I was considering going through London and overnight stay, to avoid the long 16 + hour flight straight through from ATL.
