This only took a day longer than I thought it would, but it is an astute blowback against Elon's criticism.

"I'm very disappointed, because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here better than you people," Trump said in the Oval Office. "He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem, and he only developed the problem when he found out that we're going to have to cut the EV mandate, because that's billions and billions of dollars, and it really is unfair."
"He knew everything about it. He had no problem with it."
"he only developed the problem when he found out that we're going to have to cut the EV mandate."

Something about these sentences next to each other doesnt make sense.

Trump threatening Elon’s government contracts is so petty and unbecoming it’s embarrassing.

These two alpha teen age girls need to get a room.

Trump is tangling with a beast. Musk can cause a lot of problems for Trump.

I'm not on X or Truth Social to verify these, but people I'm friends with say these are actually out there online. If so, dang; that escalated quickly!

I am, and have been following all afternoon.

This is so childishly ridiculous. Musk's Dragon is the US manned space program.

Keep waiting for the fawning true believers to explain to me what brilliant strategy this is. I am sure it is somewhere in an appendix of the "Art of the Deal" - or maybe small print in a new addition?

Decades ago I had meeting with VP of Sales of a Fortune 500 company. They even sent the company jet to pick us up.

He told me, “The name of the game is, “You scratch my back, I scratch your back.” It resulted in a very prosperous relationship for us. When we had issues, we resolved it privately and amicably.

Trump and Musk have forgotten this.

I don't know what truly caused the ugly rift between Trump and Musk, but, Trump should be extremely grateful for Musk being instrumental in helping him get elected, and what was accomplished by DOGE.
You don't treat friends and allies in that manner. Shameful.

With Trump's ego, if one does not say Yes to him 100% of the time then one is not a friend or an ally. We have seen it over and over again during his first term.

His strategy was to hurt Musk. After the government contract cancellation comment Tesla shares dropped 14%.

Unfortunately, Trump doesn't possess the maturity or humility, to apologize to Musk, and work things out.
A trait that is all too common with president's and politicians.
Despite any of Elon's fault's or shortcomings, he can be a staunch ally of the Republican party

It seems that those who believed Trump was going to be anything other than an opportunistic wealthy elitist will be disappointed. The best the party can do is get the work of government done before his ego and ignorance bursts forth to increase the complexity of any given issue. Good luck guys, this is going to be a wild few years. If the democrats get their feet back under them I doubt you will see another Republican government for a decade or two.

Agreed. Well stated.

If we can suffer through another 3 1/2 years of these narcissists, maybe Vance & DeSantis can get us through another 4-8.

Just imagine how Kackling and Tampon would be handling world affairs???

With respect to world affairs, I think the democrats clearly would not have been worse, and almost certainly better than the current tariff chaos and fawning to the dictator in the Kremlin.

I voted, however reluctantly, for Trump because of his domestic positions. We'll see if one balances out the other over the next year.

Exactly. We already know how much power the POTUS has via executive orders, possible 8 years of Harris would have been tough.

A slight alternative to your better or worse assessment:

Different approaches for sure, but how to quantify the different versions of bad choices would be the impossible measuring stick to say one is better or worse than the other. ... I personally will say equally poor cumulative results.
