I just purchased this Dakota #10 in 243 Winchester and can't wait to take it to the range and shoot it next week.

I have to say it is the most elegant firearm I've ever owned!

Unless they figured out some way to fix that, they can't take dry firing. Get yourself a set of snap caps for it before you dry fire it once. I you have been dry firing stop immediately.

Ruger #1's are 1000% tougher, but it is still not a good idea.

Yes, its a Guerini Armi, the model is called Chamois EELL.
I have 2 Ceaser Guerini shotguns that are made in Italy. I don't know if there is any relationship between the guns/manufactures. But mine too are also very good looking long guns.

Thank you, it is in calibre 5,6x57R.
Does that cartridge have a weird neck wall thickness like the 5,6x57. Mine is still in bureaucracy hell somewhere. I found a M66 Mauser in perfect shape with an unmolested Swarovski 3-12x56. It's at the shop with everything else I have my name on it.

A lot of gun for black grouse and capercaillie, you must use it on foxes and roe?

Yes, it does, I am planning to have it rebored to 6,5x57R or 7x65R in the future.

It is a tad to powerful for black grouse and Capercaillie but if I hold high it is no problem with excessive meat damage. For fox and roe deer it is just about perfect, for beaver aswell.

1976 Liberty edition Ruger No. 1 in 270 Winchester. Inherited from my father, it is one of the best shooters in my collection.

PS - @ftrovato That is a gorgeous Dakota #10! You should be very proud, and I hope it brings you many years of enjoyment.

As a right-hander who shoots left the majority of the time, I like ambidextrous rifles. So I'm a fan of single-shot falling-blocks & their simplicity. They work really well for a lot of the hunting that I do.

I often start hunting in the fall with my my Winchester 1885 Traditional Hunter in 405 Win or Browning 1885 in 44 Magnum because the regulations allow it during the primitive season.

My Ruger No. 1A in 303 British is a sentimental favorite & a great choice for where I hunt.

It's nice to be able to open a safe & grab a single-shot or a single-shot or another single-shot. Winchester, Browning, Uberti, Ruger? I've got options in seven different chamberings to choose from.

I really like the compact size of my Ruger No. 1 RSI chambered in 275 Rigby. Shooting Rigby ammo (aka 140gr Hornady InterLock SP) with a 2-7x33 scope, it works really well as a deer rifle.

I've taken the most deer with my Ruger No. 1A in 6.5x55 shooting 140gr Partitions. Either I've been very lucky or this rifle excels at dropping deer in their tracks because zero tracking is usually required.

Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
