Yep, I hate to kill anything I don't eat, (excluding mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches etc..) but these snakes don't need to breed! Shit!! Still an amazing photo though. That being said, I imagine one could eat a Mamba as long as the venom sacs were excluded. I hear that snake meat is quite a delicacy.. So it's a win win situation I suppose?
Screw my herpetology background, I'd try some Mamba stew.. Sure thing!!!

Great picture, beautiful animals...but dangerous :scared:

i'll pass on a quite different impression of mamba's here. I think it's important to step beyond the hoopla and paranoia about the snakes. yes indeed - they are both fast and dangerous.

I have a friend in Kenya who is a local herbal healer. Hence he ventures into the bush quite often to find specific plants to make medicines. He has encountered mamba's several times. on his last encouner, he was crouched under a tree when a large mamba raised itself off the ground - not far from where he was. he simply remained motionless. the mamba looked him over in a very curious way for a few minutes, then went about its own business. so this Kenyan does not describe mamba's as "ferocious snakes". he thinks of them as being intelligent and curious - though still deadly.

just something different to consider.

How about this surprise.....

that's a great one :-)
I so WISH I'd been there to take a photo like that!!
What an awesome photograph.

If I showed a photo like that to my wife - she would never ever take bath in Africa.
Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

and by the way - that picture of the two mambas mating was also a truly
wonderful photo. Stuff like that is the "moment of a lifetime" :-)

Yes, it's NEVER a good thing to become too complacent near a Black Mamba....! :eyecrazy:

On my first hunt in Zim (1999) my PH told about his apprentice having to go back for the truck and in going through the bush a BIG BM reared up to face height in front of him. He froze and then fainted. Woke up later and the snake was gone.
On my second hunt in SA we were going into a brush blind when all of a sudden my PH comes running back out yelling "snake, snake" !! I looked in and saw a 2 foot python in the blind's leaves. Took a stick and prodded it until it slithered out of the blind and down the path away from us. Real brave PH!!

BTW, the picture above my post will give me nightmares tonight! Scares the crap out of me.

l know what would be dribbling out the leg of them shorts if it was me in that photo
