Sellier & Bellot bullets

Does anyone here know who makes the 7mm 140 grain SP bullets for Sellier & Bellot ammunition?

MS 9x56; Full disclosure, I work for Sellier & Bellot USA. The standard SPs, SPCEs, XRG, XRG Blue and FMJ are all made in-house. Projectiles we load from outside vendors (very limited) are noted in the description; Sierra, Hornady PTS, Nosler etc. All cases and primers are made in-house from raw material in our Czech factory.

Yes sir, we make everything, other than our powder, at the same facility outside of Prague. (I was referring to brass when I mentioned cases above.)

I just purchased a commercial Mauser chambered in 7x57 proofed in Germany in 1940. I finally got to the range today and the 2 rounds and cartridges it shot best were Remington 175 grain round nose and the Sellier & Bellot round nose soft point 140 grain. I have no experience with S&B ammo but am going to try it on whitetails this upcoming season. Remington 140 grain corelocs shot 3-4 inches left of aiming point.

Good move getting a 7x57! My favorite caliber. Either one of those loads would be great of course. I've used our S&B 140gr 7x57 in Africa, Czech Republic and the USA out of my No 1 and it's a killer for sure. We've been making the soft points for classics like the 7x57, 6.5x55 etc literally since the calibers were invented. They're a perfect match for those moderate velocity calibers on medium bodied game.

SPCE is great projectile for closer range hunting, which is typical in Europe. I find it to be quite an accurate bullet as well through my No 1 7x57. I have a Steyr Scout in 308 that loves the 150gr SPCE. That's been a great eastern whitetail round for me. The bullet was developed to punch a clean hole through the hide allowing for great blood trails. It cuts a wadcutter-type hole though the hide while expanding like a standard soft point. The guys I hunt with in Czech Republic love it for wild boar hunting.

That's a great way to hunt, I agree. I'm biased of course, but the standard S&B softpoints in 7x57 and 6.5x55 (or 6.5 Creedmoor) are just plain clean killers. They're that perfect combination of medium velocity cartridge and reliably expanding bullet. They won't hang together for pretty marketing magazine photos, but they absolutely kill game quickly and cleanly. It's all I use for plains game up to kudu and wildebeest. Put it in the right spot and the animal's going down.

Tango, have you ever used the 140 grain on wild boar? Or would you recommend the 175 grain?

I have and they work well, but so do the 173gr loads. The Czechs really like the SPCE bullet and I have to admit, the way it cuts a clean hole in the hide is neat. I typically use whichever one is most accurate in my rifle. We have another new(ish) load coming out this Fall that will be good if you want a more modern, high BC, deep-penetrating round. TXRG Blue is a line of tipped copper bullets designed with longer range shooting and European non-toxic ammunition regulations in mind. The 7x57 load will use a 150gr bullet. I haven't hunted with the 7x57 load yet, but I took the 30-06 165gr to Africa and it worked very well. Same thing on a New Mexico elk. Very typical copper bullet performance with complete pass throughs on most animals. I am convinced that the animals shot with SPs drop and die faster vs the solid copper TXRG rounds (when bullets are placed well).

i have a fair amount of experience with S+B in south africa
the 22 hornet ammo is great!!!!
the rest of ammo in various calibres is always very accurate and performs well on all plains game(soft skin animals) havent really had a issue i can think of
i find there brass great for reloading too

never used any large calibres on dangerous game

We bring in as much of the 7x57 as possible, but recent market conditions have made it impossible to keep up with demand. We don't have a retail sales program at this time, however we have several good online resellers/dealers that stock all of the S&B loads as they become available; SG Ammo, Target Sports, Lucky Gunner and Midway. SG Ammo probably stocks the widest variety and all of the unique loads when they come in.

That i forgot to post, here its mostly the 6,5,.308,30-06,8x57 ,7x57R, x64 and x65R ,and somewhat of 9,3s.

I wish importer here were more open for more suggestions ,and more service minded like others are . I wish for a couple cases of 7x57 173s, soft solids.
I have shot a couple cases 8mm SPCE ,in match and some qualification that was pretty tough and hard .
But the old 98 and SPCE behaved as they should ,so that part was the easiest one if i did my bit.
