Have any of you Africa hunters ever eat a lion, leopard, or cougar? Was it weird? Did it taste good?

l may have svar
me and my son ordered some dimsims for lunch at a shopping centre in johnnasburg in 2010. and we joked that maybe they used cat meat in them

A significant number of hunters do eat the big cats they hunt but I wouldn't recommend it. They (the cats, not the clients! LOL) eat all kinds of old crap in all stages of putrifrication and consequently are usually riddled with all kinds of nasty stuff that can make you very ill indeed.

Haha, Bluey, funny story!

Shakari, I have heard about that. I think either Hemingway or Roosevelt had a recipe for chicken fried lion steak. It is similar in my mind to eating wild boar and bear because of all the crap the former eats and how both have worms in some or many cases. My parents won't even touch pork because they have seen them try to eat fresh turds.

your parents are on the money young fella , idont eat no swine either

Just that much more bacon for me Bluey!!!!!

Yeah, Bluey, I understand why they don't. It grosses them out. As for me.... I eat anything. Hah! I can't wait to start my hunting life. Deer, hogs, bear, nilgai, turkey, goose, teal, sandhill crane and one of these days Africa and Alaska! The Dark Continent and the Last Frontier. The honors of the last frontier may very well go to your very own Northern Territory and I have friends in Perth, Western Australia who I'll visit soon and maybe I might hunt in Aussie!

Where in Australia are you?

i have had lion kebabs as snacks , i tried one but that was enough but my brother loved them and scoffed the lot. they tasted ok. i have had leopard fillet a couple of times and it wasnt bad. this was quite a few years ago and wouldnt now, as the cats especially lions seem to be coming down with lots of diseases. the kruger ones from digesting too many two legged things......:vomit:

im in Victoria on the south eastern coast .from a town called lakes entrance in east Gippsland

Hey, I would love to eat warthog!! They are clean I heard. Just a bit iffy on the wild boars and feral piggies.

In Victoria, eh? I'll respond on the other thread.

I have tried mountain lion, but couldn't gag it down, although the other guys liked it. Brian

A friend of mine swears that mountain lion is the best he's ever had, and he eats everything he shoots. I'll let you know if I ever get a ML as I will try it. Now, roast leg of warthog? MMmmmmmmmmm!!!!!Yes!
Feral pigs here in the USA are very tasty also. I have about 10 pounds of good breakfast sausage left in the freezer. OOPs, better go get more next week when I'm in Houston. Here piggy piggy :)

although (hypocritically) that I do use hard pork fat when l make venison sausages .
and I eat salamis and prossessed meat that im aware contain swine

The "other half" wants a mountain lion on our wall I just haven't been out on one yet. I'd rather spend the money on tickets to Africa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
