Well I've Done It Now!!! (Joining The R8 Cult)

Well i have R93 professional with three barrels. 270 winchester, 338 winchester with brake, and 375 h&h with a brake. Scope mount. Leather pelican looking suit case. One standard bolt head and a magnum bolt head. Right handed. Few extras.
would I be able to trade them for R8.
338 and 375 are unfired. Three magazines. Magnum bolt head is still in wrapper.
Krish.

Your best bet would be to sell the R93 and buy an R8.

And Toby, the deer in the middle is quite nice.
Agreed!
Those brow tines and thick bases are awesome.
Incredible mass throughout.
I imagine he had a big body as well.

I've shot my fair share of GA deer, albeit on the South East Costal area.
Most were right around 110-130# after field dressing.
Hardly what I was used to from Upstate NY with 180-200# deer.

I do agree with @TOBY458, sell the R93 and buy the R8 platform.
There is still a loyal R93 following and selling them shouldn't be an issue.
Not sure where you are located, as that may be a deciding factor.
As for what you can expect to get for the R93, I have no insight.
I know there are several on GB for sale, maybe check there for prices.
Possibly do a consignment sale with a GB dealer for store credit and get the R8.

Thank you. I am in Missouri.

Just wanted to share, Scopelist has a demo 500 J barrel for under $2k.

Congratulations on a fine rifle. Not my cup of tea but still a quality rig and highly regarded. I wish you many successful hunts with it.

I shot my 7mm Rem Mag barrel a few times yesterday. I bore sighted it, and got lucky. Without touching the dials after I bore sighted it, I shot a 4 shot 7/8" group 1 1/2" dead center above the bullseye. This was with cheap Remington 150gr Core lokt factory loads. I think this barrel is going to be a shooter. And being lucky with the bore sighting is a great way to save ammo! Haha!

Nice @TOBY458
I don’t think it is just getting lucky. I think the tolerances of the barrel and scope mounts are very accurate so minimal scope adjustment is needed. I sighted in 6 scope/barrel/mount combos this year and it required very little dial adjustment. I was surprised and thought it was luck on the first one, then the rest were similar and I realized it is just manufactured very, very well.

That may very well be the case. Once I get a chance to shoot my 375 barrel, hopefully it goes just as smoothly.

On my 375 barrel, I found about a 1" (left to right) difference between my target loads from 300 grain PPU Softs and my hunting ammo 300 grain Barnes TSX. Just something to keep in mind. But the TSX's shoot lights out, easily 3/4" group or less at 100 yards. The PPU, not so much.

Well....ever since selling my R8 Professional in 375 H&H and 7mm Rem Mag to @BeeMaa, I kept second guessing my decision. So, since I have always admired the R8 Luxus and Jaeger, with the wooden stock, I couldn't resist this one. It's unfired with only a few very minor safe dings on the stock. Has a beautiful stock with a classic pancake cheekpiece. The kickstop in the stock makes it a bit heavier than I like, but I plan to remove that asap. Overall a beautiful rifle!

@TOBY458
You and my best mate would get on really well. He sold a beautiful Remington 700 in 30 ought six and left handed plus a savage hunter with an exquisite stock in 243.
A month later he went to a go show. When he came home he had 2 new rifles. You guessed it the same as he sold but not as nice. They to have since gone down the road along with buying and selling about 15 or twenty more, a lot of them he never even shot but they were a good price. Some he made money on, others he lost money and others he broke even.

How many different rifles have I seen in this very spot?

Toby you are one sick puppy.

That is a nice looking rifle. What glass do you plan to use? Which mount system? And... what will be the next barrel?
@Tra3
Don't ask mate it's to early. It might even be back up for sale in a few days because it's to pretty.
Put in an offer now.
Haha
Bob

Congratulations @TOBY458. A fine looking wood stocked rifle you have there. Now you have the R8 you REALLY wanted. The figure of the grain in the buttstock is amazing.

Not calling dibs this time, I’m worn out from the comings and goings in my vault. Mrs BeeMaa is very happy as well, which we all know can be the most important part.

Let us know how it shoots.

Thanks! I haven't quite made up my mind on the optics yet. I want something lightweight, but with a low and high power setting that will cover all bases. I'll probably go with Blaser scope mounts, and may look at a 416 Rem barrel at some point.

@TOBY458 nice rifle bro. I have seen your kitchen soo many times I think I will know my way around it if I ever visit. I feel a 500j barrel in the future may be heading your way.
