What guns will you nerver sell and what guns do you regret selling?
Pictures and lots of talk please!

In my case, my M70 and my 725 Sporter II are here to stay. Probably

Many years ago i did own a old Swedish Mauser 96 in 6,5x55. It did have a heavy 20 or 22 mm Schultz & Larsen barrel and i fitted it into a Boyds Classic Laminated.
I wonder what i was thinking there.. but it gone now

Nothing I regret selling nor any I wouldn’t sell. Kind of a boring reply, but I’m always looking to go over the next hill or around the next corner and see what’s there.

Regrets....My Mod 70 xtr .338 Win Mag. It went to a mate that has taken sambar with it,nice to know it went to a home for use.
I kept the scope its now on my 9.3x64B so that is a saving.

Beleive it or not, i nevet sold a gun. I keep collecting. Each one is special and for the purpose. Type of hunt, or target, etc... In order to keep control of spending, i really need to persuade myself the need for next one, or specific purpose. Then is a matter of smart buying. Not buying on impulse, but on rducated choice. Fir example, next one will be 375 hh, purpose buffalo. Mauser 98 type action. I could use it later for boars or bears at home, so will not come in temptation to sell it later. In case i went for 416 then after the buff, there would be no more need to have, so would sell it. Thats what i mean by smart buying. Always having Secondary use in mind.

You know what they say, he who hoards guns, ammo and toilet paper don’t have to go to the store during manufactured pandemics! Lol
Well at least they say that now!

But to the OP, I don’t sell many guns, but if I did they would have been Weatherby’s. Can’t say I miss any of them. I’ve given a few away that I miss but the happiness that resulted from the gift far outweighed the empty spot in my safe. I will have to think on which ones I’d never get rid of and narrow it down to a manageable size. Two off the top of my head are Pre-64’s one in 300 H&H and the other in 30-06 that both hold a lot of memories of my all to short friendship with a AH member Clayton Gilley that passed on. Those two for sure will never go. Neither will any of my Dad's guns. I will post some pics up later.

Last one I sold out of my collection was to a buddy that took a liking to one of my 270's. His son uses it so I'm happy it's getting some use.
None still within my M70 herd or customs have any future of changing hands.

Next generation of my family aren't hunters and would not appreciate any of my fine guns. I'm thinking that I will leave them to my hunting buddies.

Come to think about it, there is also a Sako 75 laminated stainless in 30-06 that i should not have sold. I loved that gun.

I would never sell my 7mm Rem Mag in a Win Super Grade Model 70, way too many memories. I can tell you where every scratch on that gun came from!

One thing I'v learned is to never say never.
I'm not likely to sell my Blaser R8 PH or my Beretta 686 12 & 20 bore.
And if I think of selling my wife's R8...well let's just not go there.

Regrets...no regrets.
I'm focused on the future and happy to see my past guns find a new home.

Thanks Lakebranch! I'm planning on it! I have a trip back to Africa for the fourth time next year and I'm thinking it's not the last time. I also want to do a New Mexico elk hunt (never done one) and a water buffalo in Australia. Still in great shape for my age and if I make it through the current plague, I'm good to go!

I regret selling my Ithaca 12G SXS I was 18 at the time. Bought it used from a guy waiting to get his car repaired at a station where I used to pump gas, payed 35.00 for it .

Ruger #1 300 WinMag is the rifle I would never sell. It was given to me by my wife as a birthday gift. I have taken many an animal with this beauty.

The one rifle I regret having sold is a Savage 7mm. But I had a friend who need a rifle and I was using the Ruger 300 exclusively so I let him have it at a great price.

I have never sold one, though I did try selling my Mosin, and don't plan on it but I have five I wouldn't sell.

1. Browning Gold Hunter 12 ga. I showed it to my mom on the used rack at gander mt. after falling in love with the one the guy who taught my hunter safety course brought in. She went and bought it unbeknownst to me and a Kolpin shotgun case and surprised me with it at Christmas. I was 13. She is very good at being sneaky. It fits like a glove and has the best wood I've seen on one.

2. Early 60's FN Browning 458wm. It shoots. It's light. It's suitable for anything in the world. It looks like it's been in a safe for 60 years. It's one of the two nicest I've seen.

3. J.C. Higgins 30/06. With an FN action and Hi Standard barrel how could you go wrong? It shoots 200 gr partitions well and fits like a glove. Real nice carrying rifle. Someday it will get a nice piece of walnut or maple.

4. Sporterized 1895 Chilean Mauser. Somebody put some time and money into it but I got it for $230 on an impulse stop after work. It's a real old school looking rifle like I had always wanted. It's also the iconic 7x57. It needs the cheekpiece shaved down a little for open sights and a new finish on the stock but otherwise I love it.

5. J.C. Higgins 12 ga. single shot that was my grandpas. It's actually a nice handling gun with a great patina.

I wish I had his Hi Standard pistol but my aunt probably pawned it.

Nothing super fancy in my cabinet but I like them all. Some more than others.

This is my regret..... I commissioned this rifle from Dennis Erhardt in 2004. It was completed in 2009. I sold it for a down payment on our first house. The photo was one taken when it was consigned.
