Thank you, Gert.

I have that covered, however, and learned how to reload a few decades ago to feed the M1910. I had no source for proper 9.5X57 brass in those pre internet days but after much 'old school' research, and triple checking information, I resized fresh .35 Whelen. They formed with a single pass through RCBS dies, then were trimmed to length and filled with (then plentiful, now nearly extinct) Hornady 3715 (.375, 270 grain round nose) which made near perfect replicas of DWM531 and suited my purposes well.

These days, in the U.S. at least, the situation is reversed. Accurately formed and properly headstamped brass is now plentiful (Quality Cartridge, Bertram) but round nosed 270 grain projectiles are hard to find. Fortunately, I had laid in a fairly good supply when I could and have also a healthy supply of the Qual - Cart brass.

The thread I had linked to previously (here 'tis again) https://www.africahunting.com/threads/mannlicher-schönauer-prewar-m1900-m1903-m1905-m1908-m1910-m1924-m1925-or-high-velocity.47277/ contains an exchange between myself and HWL regarding the magazine rings and change of bolt release 'button', both of which were implemented with the M1924. There are also some MS magazine articles, catalog images, etc... .

Here's a question for you, though. As I live in an area that now requires that lead free ammunition be used to shoot critters, do you know of anyone who uses a 'lead free' load in an M1910 (9.5X57) that cycles flawlessly, performs well, and could advise of what projectile they're feeding it?
Let me ask around, I know of one South African Mannlicher Schoenauer collector who has an extensive collection of Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles..I will phone Sarel and ask him your question...the first option that comes to mind is Barnes Bullets???

English:

Brain, when I bought my 404 Jeffery I was not able to get hold of re-loading dies or new ammo, I received a box of mixed rounds included .375 H&H Magnum and very old Kynoch ammo for the 404 Jeffery...so I had to make a plan..I went to Johan Greyling, my mentor and great gunsmith with my problem...I told Johan Greyling that people on a South African forum, Jaracal , said that it is impossible to fire form .375 H&H Magnum brass to fit in my 404 Jeffery....well Johan Greyling told me nothing is impossible to do..he then assisted me in fire forming belted .375 H&H Magnum brass to fit and shoot in my 404 Jeffery....I still use those fire formed brass today without any difficulty at all..those few members on the South Africa Jaracal forum they suspended me after I had a quarrel about the good qualities of the 8mm( .323") bullet...:LOL::LOL::LOL: But I still think it was because I proof them wrong....

Brian, this is some great info about these beautiful Mannlicher Schoenauer rifles...

Here is, I do believe, the rarest fish in the MS sea - the 10.75X68 'High Velocity' or 'M1925' (listed at bottom of image from 1939 Stoeger):

Looks fantastic Gert. Congratulation on getting it finished.

Wheels, this is a .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer of a friend of mine who I need to sell for him, he is not using it and it is standing in his safe. This will be the exact full stock design I want to use for my own full stock build of my .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer..I really think it looks way better than the stock it was manufactured with..(y)(y)(y)

I was thinking this was yours. Looks great.

I'm not in the market but do you mind saying what the for sale price will be on it?

Wheels, the owner does not use it as mentioned before..he just want to sell it..if he can get R30 000 /$1,709 USA he will settle for it....or an offer very near to this amount...

That is a fantastic price for that rifle. Hopefully the owner will get that and more. If the rifle was in the States..........

Greyling has done another great job. Perhaps I missed it, but what type of wood was used for the stock?

Wheels, yes Johan Greyling is a gunsmith second to none...it is American Black Wall-nut , Johan use different oils to stain the wood into this nice looking deep ruhabab red..although Johan Greyling only build working rifles , every day carry hunting caliber rifles , there are enough /many other gunsmiths who build rifles in the collector`s/customs environment....like the 404 Jeffery rifles he build , are functional working rifles who you can use to break a buffalo`s spine if you run out of ammo and have to defend yourself :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Hi Oom Gert- how about a swap? I have a 458 by FN in mint condition for that MS? I don’t use it as I have a 458 Lott and a 404 and a few 375’s ...

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
