Shooting sticks, 2 or 3 legs?

My wife used the quad sticks believe by primos, pole cat I believe. Got them online for about $90. Way more sturdy than the others. If you get them practice setting up in a pinch as they will take some getting used to. I put them in my bow case on the flight worked great. I have a big pod tripod and primos bi pod trigger sticks. Those are easier to use but not as steady.

The best thing to do is to shoot from a heavily made shooting bench or get proned out on a bi-pod for every shot. There really isn't any arguing this fact.

I am amazed that some outfitters dont have a portable collapsible bench and seat that can be set up by the workers for the client haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

With a cup holder!

It looks like a lot of support for 3 legs with the 4 leg version creating stability.
I’m going to review Von Gruff idea the first few posts and purchased a Vanguard tripod that can be used 3 ways from eBay. I came back to a heap more posts. Thanks!

I got this for 20% off so $120 Aussie dollars which seemed good.

Now to practice when I receive it.

I have very little experience with rests. Was given a bipod for Xmas a few years ago and had a hard time with stability. Shot with a friends tripod and the difference was night and day. So for me it’s three legs or bust.

As stated previously, contact your PH and practice with what he has or bring your own that you have been practicing with. It is all a matter of what you are comfortable with and practice with. Some of the PH's are starting to use quad sticks. I found a pair online at Cowboy Safes. My with shoots better off these than a bench rest. Picture #1 are tripods I made from dowels. They can be broken down and used sitting . Picture #2 are the quad sticks. They take a little longer to get comfortable with but are rock solid. A friend of mine that is a PH in Namibia says that the amount of wounded animals has decreased dramatically since he started using the quad sticks.

I have used both on 2 trips to Africa. I prefer 3 leg, BUT, most important thing is try both before you go and PRACTICE!

Another BIG pro to the 3 leg: you can hand gea from it after the shoot. Seriously, it’s quite handy keeping expensive stuff out of the dirt!

3 legs. You can use it as a hanger for your backpack/ rifle when taking a rest. Deploys as fast as 2 legs and much more stable.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
