Hunting reports

Just got back August 20, 2017. Husband went with Pierre van tonder big game safaris. Pierre was fantastic. Everything was first class all the time. When we arrived at Dar es Salaam we were treated like royalty. This was our first trip to Africa and ignorant as to where to go and what to do. No problem. Pierre's people were right there waiting for us and zoomed us through customs, got our luggage and Joe's gun, and off we went. Charter flight to camp took about an hour. Pierre was there waiting for us at the landing strip and we drove to the camp from there. On the way a bull elephant crossed the road in front of us. It was awesome!! The camp was clean and we'll kept. Our quarters was super nice and had its own bathroom and shower. Pierre's staff all greeted us on arrival and food was served soon after we unpacked. Let me add, the food was 5 star rated. Joe got an impala, a Kadoni and a beautiful cape buffalo. Pierre's trackers are Masai and we're incredible. The weeds were 4 to 6 feet high but they still were able to spot buffalo tracks from the road. It was a trip of a lifetime with memories. If you have any questions feel free to ask. We planned this trip and saved for years and Pieer made every minute worth all the time and effort. Sheila.

This sounds like a great trip! Tanzania on your very first Africa hunt! That's amazing!
That's a fine looking buffalo!

Congrats and thanks for sharing! Nice looking buff

Custer, sounds like you "guys" had lots of fun, that is what hunting Africa is all about. Thanks for sharing. Did you do any hunting or did you go along as an observer?

P.S. Not many gals write up trip reports, glad you did.

Congrats on a great trip and an excellent trophy!

No, I didnt hunt. Just ate some Impala, which was delicious by the way. I stayed in the camp for the first 7 days but went with them on the 8th. We stopped to eat lunch and I stayed there while Joe, Pierre and the trackers went on foot. A few hours later they radioed that Joe got his buffalo. Off me and the driver went in the truck and found them about three miles later in the brush. It was so neat.

Congrats for a great experience, I suppose you are planning to come back :D

Nice buff !

Congrats on a great trip. Buffalo in Tanzania on the first trip. Fantastic!

Congrats! Tanzania is the stuff of legends.

What is kadoni?

Congrats on a wonderful trip and buff.

VonJager, I'm guessing she meant kongoni. Which is the common term in East Africa for hartebeest.

Your right. I don't know why I keep spelling that wrong.

Maybe has something to do with their accents over there??? :ROFLMAO:

Granted I was in South Africa 2 weeks ago and they thought I talked funny.

So either a
Coke's or a Lichtenstein's. Sounds like the Selous? So Lichtenstein's I guess. But Maasai trackers so north? Better just include photos of the impala and the kongoni and clear it all up!

Tanzania buff is like getting a Lambo for your first car. I like y'all's style.
I didn't know thst. Our outfitter, Pierre was determined to get Joe his dream buffalo, he did him great didn't he?

I was an observer. I relaxed in the camp and let Joe and the trackers with Pierre do the walking. It was a hard hunt. Weeds were high and they walked 6 to 8 miles a day. Joe was really tired each evening. I wasn't, lol, I was ready for a drink and conversation.

Yes, we were in the Selous. Camp was by the Rahu river. Pierre had a bottle of Jack Daniels for me at the bar and a bottle of Captain Morgan for Joe. Plus beer and full bar. We sat at the fire pit and had drinks every night before dinner.
