For you Ruger No 1 owners

From an "ease of process" point of view, I'd be tempted by the 45.120; to keep it in the classic mould, go 450NE 31/4". Availability of brass is a consideration, and dies too.
As part of your claim, ask your gunsmith (Renners?) for a quote to supply a stock to match the one Fedex ruined, and maybe a quote to source a matching rifle to the one they broke. Give Fedex options, and see how they respond. This from an old ex-insurance bloke. I have an oil-finished, polished factory butt which came off a 220Swift; my favourite master gunsmith valued it at A$1200.00, and that was four years ago.
Commiserations, and good luck.

Geoff, Have you received your 1H Rigby yet?

Not yet, I can be patient. According to the importer, it can take up to six months. Oh, the joys of living in a "democracy" Some good news: I'll have the rebarreled 300WSM within a week. Laminated stock, 26" Hardy (New Zealand made) carbon-fiber wrapped barrel. Weight without the scope is just on 3.5kg. Remember, the Kiwis build, and race (and just won!)
America's cup yachts. they make tru-flite barrels too. This'll be my "mountain rifle"
I am surely looking forward to getting the 416 Rigby No.1
Thanks, mate, and "Avagodweekend!"

Just be sure to let me know your opinion after you receive it and have a chance to take it to the range. It's a little rowdy with full factory loads!!!

Surely will. Another No 1 has been rebuit/rebarrelled to 300WSM as well, but throated out so that high BC 200 grain bullets are something like 200 thou over recommended max OAL. I've put five into 12.8" @ the thousand; the called flyer pushed out an 8" group. Just love accurate rifles.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
