I've been watching a few auctions on GB lately and there is an auction that ends today that might be of interest to somebody looking for a relatively inexpensive double rifle. Current bid is $3300. Sabatti's have been discussed a fair amount on AH and some PHs even carry them.

I was hoping that this would slide under the radar as I'm bidding on it. No matter. You wind some auctions and you lose some. At least, it will go to a good home and the shop will make money regardless.

WIN not Wind. My bad.

:S Oops: :S Sorry:

You're a funny man, .375 Ruger fan. Kind of glad you posted this, though. I consider it the community of AfricaHunting. We look out for things to benefit others. It will be a great deal to whomever wins it and maybe has a dream fulfilled.

ive got mine,go for it.

And I won it! I'm actually really surprised that there were not any other bidders. I talked to the shop manager and she advised that she was surprised due to the number of people watching the auction. Regardless, my friends, I shall post a review sometime after I receive it and have a chance to shoot it.

Awesome dude. Sabatti's are a decent brand. I have 2 coming in in 7x57 & 7x64. Italians make good firearms.

I had a chance at a 470 for $2500. After learning about the gun and the two years it took to get a striker bushing I passed. It had been shot 4 times.

I had two 9.3x74r previously. Can't endorse them. Caveat emptor. When they work they're fine, when they don't you're screwed.

Hmm, maybe I missed out and maybe I got lucky. It was over by the time I heard about it. Was the caliber I wanted, too.

Yep. Guilty as grinched.

In defense of Sabatti, Ken Owen, one of the best double rifle smiths there is loves them. He can accurize them and make them reliable for cheap, usually under a grand. He swears they are good but need a little work. (Like cz550)

Me, I'm a grinch. One broke a striker on the fourth shot that was in my circle of friends. The spanner required to remove the striker doesn't exist in America and thus he was SOL. The bushing was soft and ruined in removal just to change a striker that should never have broken. Over two years waiting for a new bushing from sabatti!

When I bought mine I looked at almost 20 personally and most were dremel regulated as most of you know the story. I was happy when I exited the sabatti owners group.

If my pathetic stories of sabatti pain can save someone else from similar misfortune I'll accept my role as crumudgeon.

Used like new Merkel, Searcy, Krieghoff. All in the same economic stratosphere and you don't give away your location by following a trail of tears.

Vanguard: Congratulations, I'm glad you got it at what appears to be a heck of a price. It will be interesting to read follow up reports.
All the best to you,
Dave

all i know is mine works.at 78 the eyes arnt what they used to be so i put a trijicon srs1 red dot on it,wont complain on the results.shots to the right are the right barrel, shots to the left are the left barrel.shots touching red are the regulated load, hornady, wider shots are the 286 gr woodleigh hydro solid, which is my favorite.target is 50 yards.

I hadn't realized that he got the gun. Okay, now I understand the grinch comment even more. Sorry, I misread that you had not won the gun. <sorry>

Okay, if it has any problems, get it to Ken Owen and he can fix whatever ails it. He's Mr. sabatti and fixed a lot of them that were thought beyond saving and turned them into shooters.

I gotta read these threads more carefully or I'll have my foot in my mouth 24x7!
