Arriving with rifle in South Africa But going to hunt in Mozambique

I was flying out of Maun, Botswana last december, we fly with Star Alliance all the way home to keep all luggage in transit, but in Maun their computer based check-in was down and they had to do it manually, thus only checking the luggage to the first airport...wich was Johannesburg..

Enter Johannesburg with rifles. Without transit papers on them...:Banghead:

To make a long story short it took me 3,5 hours to struggle the rifles through...barely...oh do I love SA police...:Wacky:

But in fairness, South African Airw. was very helpful and did their best to help...(y)

So do your homework..

I would use someone like riflepermits if you are not confident in the process, they can keep you busy for hours if your paperwork is not in order, and because you will be doing this process without your Outfitter " Made this assumption" it would be best to be 100% sure.

+1 Riflepermits.com can help. Email Henry

Interesting - I have four times "entered" the RSA, spent the night with weapons, exited the RSA, and continued to my out of country destination. In fairness, I have not paused multiple days. Never have I used a bogus invitation letter. Sounds like an interesting subject of discussion to be raised by even a half alert police official.
So Red Leg, are you saying you didn't have a letter of invitation from your country of final destination also? Or just not one from S.A.

I think all government rule making bodies, regardless of country go to the same school!

I had one from Moz, but not from RSA. Yet, I "entered" RSA, spent the night outside airport security with my weapon in my possession and left the next day. I have done that at least three times.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
