.30-06 and 165gr Bullets, what powder?

Try a T3 Lite in .300WM, it's a challenge to keep the gun in your hands.

I hear you. My T3 laminate in 300 WSM isn't a picnic. The PH shot it and said it was worse than a M70 in 375

I don´t know really WHY... but all the Tikka in any caliber are terryfiyng kicking machines!

They're very light and the stock butt pad is just slightly softer than steel.

I replaced the factory pad with a limbsaver and since my arms are long I added a limbsaver slipon pad. Topped with a Steiner with a full 4" of eye relief and heavy steel Warne detachables the unpleasant beast is now shootable but far from comfortable

Well finally a shooting update. My last time out with this rifle was a bit frustrating. Groupings were not good and bore little resemblance to previous outings with the same and/or similar loads. So I had the gunsmith at the range take a look. He confirmed my broadside of a barn assessment of accuracy. He found that putting a pressure point on the barrel greatly improved the accuracy.

So I worked up some loads in 165gr Ballistic Tips using H4350 and 150gr TTSX using H4895 this week. Got some decent results with groupings from 1.25" to 1.5". Nothing great, but far better than I was getting and giving me something to work with. I chose the Hodgdon powders as its getting hot here in Phoenix and I've found the IMR powders start to perform poorly when it gets hot.

But then............. there were these three rounds with 56.2gr of IMR4350 under 165gr North Fork Bonded Cores in the box that I had loaded back in the fall. So I thought why not send them down range? Glad I did as this was the result:

That'll do pig, that'll do.

You ought to be deadly with that load. Now quit fooling with it. Load up some & go to Africa.

Agreed. But I do want to replicate the load and ensure these results are repeatable. Generally when I get this good a result it doesn't suddenly go away next time out, but need to make sure.

Excellent!...
You see?... hahaha,,, the IMR 4350... I´m not so wrong after all! hahaha...
A question about this!... Actually, the IMR powder are from Canada?... The powder you use in this loads, are the actual powder?
Becasuse shows different pressure and vellocity, so the charge can be adjusted

Yes, the primary plant for IMR powder is in Canada. I think they have other plants, but that is the main one. IMR was sold to Hodgdon some years ago also. But the IMR offerings are still available to this day.

Generally I prefer the Hodgdon powders due to their lack of temperature sensitivity in comparison to others. But IMR4350 is like an old friend, I've got a number of loads for other rifles/calibers using this powder. It looks like I just added another to the list.

Add this load and you never regret!
In this part of the world the Hogdon powders are only a dream ! Just a little few reloaders have tried this powders...

Back to the range early this morning to see if the load would repeat. The tinder box that is the AZ desert right now took to flame at the 200 yard line. Range guys got it out out fortunately, but this delayed shooting till it had warmed up quite a bit. My experience with IMR4350 has shown once the temp gets above 90 or so, the groups start to open up. It was about 95 by the time I got a bench so.... But the load shot well and going up to 56.4 and 56.6 grains, the groups held well.

Phil... whath more could you ask for?...
200 yards, high temperature, excellent performance!...(y)
A nice hunting shot with this load!

Nothing, this will be the load for this rifle for sure.

If you cram you've still got time to try one or two more powders. Better hurry though. Tick Tock. Tick Tock.

Nope, not gonna happen.......wait, I have read some good reports using RL17.........dammit no, I'm done with this rifle.......for now at least

ROFLMAO. I couldn't resist that Phil. Go fill all your tags and tell us how good it works.
