Companies that are Non-Supportive of Hunting

I just question the amount of money. Fewer than 10% of gunowners belong to the NRA, and then I would guess fewer than 10% of those boycott. That's not a lot of people when they are all spread out.
Interesting that you would use the NRA as an example. I would use them as an example as well - but as proof what committed people can do without all of the money in the world. I believe I heard Hilary Clinton (it might have been Elizabeth Warren - fairly interchangeable) say that the NRA was the most powerful lobby in Washington, and in fact in the USA. Pretty impressive given the statistics you cite.

Imagine what we could do if we had an SCI that was as well run as the NRA!

Bravo Hank. SCI is too busy counting money to have a "real" impact on hunters rights. Just look around, hunters have been taking a pounding in the public arena.

On the topic of hunting, I think part of SCI's problem is that they focus most of their efforts in the legal arena. They're completely forgetting about the public relations/messaging side of things. If they managed to shift public opinion in a more positive direction, there might be less need for the legal side...

I don't know how the numbers stack up but I do know that if I am not part of the solution then I'm part of the problem. I will continue to spend my money on companies that support my rights. The biggest problem isn't the anti crowd but our own apathy that will allow them to win.

So at the end of the day they pulled all hunting and fishing equipment from their stores, publicly are left leaning, and are very anti-gun. That's enough for me. If one is anti gun then they are anti hunting by proxy in my book.

Target came to Canada a few years back then last year, I think, boom they all closed down and left Canada. Good riddance.

I walked into a target once when it first opened and probably 80-90% of the customers there were women. I think that might explain there stance on those issues, because the only thing those CEOs care about is profit. If their clientele, by in large, finds guns scary and hunting and fishing boring they'll pull it/condemn/ban it...

Also I read somewhere in this thread that Gerber is not supportive of hunting. Yet I've seen lots of both big and small stores that primarily sell hunting/fishing gear carrying their knives, machetes etc... We should all write to these stores asking them to pull Gerber's products.

Yes, just as I would hope anti-hunters are willing to buy from e.g. Cabelas for their outdoor needs.

Being excessively divisive just leads us to be even further apart. Instead of calling Holiday Inn like an unstable lunatic to tell them we're boycotting them, how about we stay at the Holiday Inn and have cordial conversations to let them know we are valuable customers.

All the hate on both sides is just unhealthy imo

I don't believe anyone on here is hating. We are a free market economy in the US, so we vote with our money. If people don't like the way a business is run for any reason, being it anti-hunting, poor service or poor product, we have a choice to not choose that business. If any one company were to have a monopoly, like the US government on many services they provide, we would have no way of truly making our voices heard.

And I guarantee no anti-hunter will ever shop in a Cabela's, Bass Pro or Sportsman's Warehouse for anything. If you wanna talk about hate, those are the haters. Hate is driven by emotion. Have you ever seen a group of anti-hunters when you try to talk with them about hunting? Enough said.

I would argue that statistic is inaccurate. I know many people who own firearms, but do not want to or advertise that they are members of the NRA. It is not that they are against the NRA, but they do not want other people to know because they worry about the impression it would make, and some worry it would make them a target for theft.
Whatever the reason, they don't have to tell anyone that they are members.

Also, since registration of firearms at the federal level is illegal according to the 1989 NFA, only states that require registration of firearms or licensing may have an accurate number of firearms owners, but that doesn't tell them whether or not they are NRA members. Firearms are a touchy subject, even for some of those that own them. Some of them are "closet" owners and NRA members.

I think we should have a website that has a comprehensive lists of all the airlines and whether or not they have restrictions on hunting.

As much as my feelings say otherwise, the facts say all companies are pro or anti hunting if it makes fiscal sense to them and they change stripes with prevailing winds.

We are a tiny group and if 80% of the public won't shop with them because of us, they will ditch us. Inverse is the same.

Boycots almost never work for the good guys. They work for the rabble not because of the lost revenue, but because thugs riot in front of stores demanding action. Saul Alynsky tactics are actually what works.

What does work for the civilized class is big money. If you're able to donate big money to a lobby or spend big money with the enterprise in question, you may win. NRA Life Benefactor here. Spent $5000 I didn't have to spare to exert my will. Painful giving. Get out your pocketbook if you want best odds of success.

I said airlines because that'll help plan in getting your trophies home

Anyone have current info on LEVI-STRAUSS & Co. ?
Last I recall reading about Levi-Strauss & Co. in regards to sympathy and donations toward Anti-Gun / Anti-Hunting Organizations, was that they (Levi-Strauss) were proudly donating what us working class people would call; "large amounts of money" to www.paxusa.com, AKA: paxusa.org, AKA: "PAX, Inc."
Maybe this indicates anti-hunting sentiments, maybe not but, it definitely indicates strong Anti-2nd Amendment sentiment.
For me, their "501 Jeans" would look silly on me in the first place (I'm in my 60s), but for all you svelte, young and hip people out there, unless LEVI-STRAUSS & Co., has repented and returned to reality, I suggest wearing some other brand of blue jeans.

@tigris115 i understand. But they are mostly caving. 1-2 will stick it out because the revenue overcomes the damage done by the opposition in the short term. In the long run there will be charter operators doing it as a specialty. All sad but true. This is how CITES live animal shipments went too. United and Delta are the two big ones still willing to ship a live animal other than the cat/dog stuff, for example.

Sorry for the cynicism but I think it's where we're headed.

I wouldn't be surprised if SSI got friendly with a particular startup airline. It'd be nice.

I'm curious of the airline load going to & from Africa by hunters.... also, the cargo revenue generated. It's one thing to be PC for publicity. However, if really hardcore about are they prepared to dump routes. I guess money talks & BS walks.

As far as I know they are still in the anti camp, I haven't worn Levis in many years just because of this, I wear Wranglers.
