I was considering bringing over my Foxpro game call, if my PH is cool with it. Any idea if it is worth the time & effort to do so? If so, any experience with which "sounds" work & which do not?
Thx!

he may already have one already so just check with him. They make a recording for african game on them I believe also.

Mine is loaded with stuff like rabbits, coyotes, bobcats, crows, etc..... Not sure if there is something that will work or somehow downloadable.

Pieter had one and it was loaded with african calls but not sure were or how it was loaded. I think it was an extra from fox pro.

The weight may not be worth dragging it along.
But, if you have room, have at it.

I found a guy in SA that was a specialist predator hunter and he has all kinds of LOCAL recordings.
Downloads can be purchased for some versions of callers.

The PH may not want you educating the local vermin with foreign calls. Depends how serious they are about calling as a control measure.
If they are willing to let you have fun and research for yourself... Why not.

Marius had his own caller and it worked. The Jackal were just pretty darned smart.

I'd hate to show up and start blarring some sows in heat, and have some horny locals come out of the woodwork!!!! LOL :)

That only works on the Taliban!

LOL!!!!

Brickburn you talking about jeff ford as the predator guy.

On my most recent trip the PH had his own Foxpro and it had African sounds- jackals howling, barking, rabbits etc

Cool thx @buck wild.... Did y'all use it? Call up anything? Shoot anything?

Nope. Jeff only chases Caracal with dogs. I can not recall this fellas name.
This fella does nothing but calling and shoots from a truck.
Truly Predator control specialist contractor.

Ouch!!! LOL.... We need some swine emojis

BWH,

I would find room and definitely take your FoxPro. I take mine every trip and I have had lots of success with it. I also take my remote crazy critter decoy. It really supplements the caller. I don't think they see a lot of decoys, and once they lock onto it, it's a done deal..... I would also recommend taking a mouth squeaker and keep it in your pocket. On several occasions, I have called in cats and jackals just passing through while on stand.

I downloaded a jackal call, yet they seemed to respond to the coyote sounds just as well. The best calls for me have been the most aggressive distress calls like the screaming rabbit. Run the call loud and often.

You will be amazed at what responds... I have called in everything from the small cats, jackals, warthogs, porcupines, to curios plainsgame animals. I lent it out to one of our PHs on my last trip and his client shot a huge male bush pig that came to the caller. It's a lot of fun if you spend some time with it.

That is very interesting that you had success with foreign sounds. Congrats.

We tried it one night. Two of us and a young PH took our bows out with the call and a red light. Started calling and had all kinds of issues with the remote. A real comedy routine. The predators were probably laughing. We did finally get some responses to the jackal or coyote loud call but we didn't get them close enough. We did laugh about how it would have been one heck of an article in the news paper if one of us was eaten by a large cat that mistook our call for a female cat in heat. At least we gave it a shot :).

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
