"Obsolete" items that you still use

Had to have an injection and ct scan to highlight the inflamed joints.
My son the radiographer asked if it was a human body. I told him yes why.
He said you know it lights up to show the inflammation and this isn't a human body it's a bloody Christmas tree. He smiled and said dad your body is stuffed.
I told him to tell me something I don't know.

Prefer wool hunting clothes to the newer fabrics- my Woolwrich pants have had the ass patched numerous times- they don’t make them anymore. Killed a turkey two years ago with my late dad’s model 12 nickel steel barrel 12 gauge and I still have my slide rule from college but admit I don’t use it anymore!

I don't think slide rules are even made anymore. Most of the ones still out there have ended up in shadow boxes hanging on office walls of engineers and other high tech types.

They put out significant heat in the winter. In fact, one sort of between the legs can let you stay out fishing on the boat a lot longer.

I've used.mine to preheat the tent before turning in on cold weather hunting trips. Just shut it down before getting into the sleeping bag so you don't die of carbon monoxide!

I know to many people that have had joints replacement and say it's not worth it. So drugs and coffee for me.
When I had my shoulder surgery and it made it worse my surgeon said we can have another go if I want.
I told him to book me in
When he asked when I want it done I told him at my autopsy it will save on Anesthesia.

Perfect ! ....got a pretty good chuckle out that ! BTY "Mr. Whelen", I want you to know, re: your Anesthesia, that we never charge to put you (or anyone) "to sleep". The cost/charge for anesthesia is only for waking one up---so you will be quite good to delay until autopsy !

Unfortunately they don't make good replacement parts for a 1958 model that has been highly abused and repairs were left until it just wasn't worth fixing.
Maybe should have looked after it better.
When I was younger WHS stood for work harder stupid NOT work health and safety.

Is it me or have others also noticed a theme here?

Items that are considered obsolete are:
made back when, by people, and companies that believed in and produced quality items,
old,
still serviceable,
still functional well past their warranty,
and generally made before the throw away 1970's.

In terms of today's market it is cheaper to buy a replacement item than to have the broken item repaired. Warranties are meaningless with manufacturer loopholes so the manufacturer isn't required to repair or replace the item. Today's products don't last past their warranty to become obsolete; they are relegated to being just junk for the scrape yard or landfill.

I have a 65 year old dishwasher that’s still works when she wants to. Occasionally she makes me a sandwich and is pretty good to warm up to on a chilly night. The newer models are fun to look at but require way too much maintenance. I’m pretty sure she has forgotten her AH password or we would be able to hear how much of me is obsolete.

You admitted in writing to looking at newer models, such a thing has been known to cause males to have multiple: Ahh, "in home accidents" requiring ER visits, hospitalizations, and in some instances an early funeral.
