"Obsolete" items that you still use

Well it's not really obsolete, but as others have mentioned, my HP-12C. I bought that calculator in college. I was in a Corporate Finance class and was using a Texas Instruments calculator and it took forever to arrive at the answer. Some chick had a 12C and was getting the answer in seconds, that was all to took for me to order one.
These older HP’s have a cult like following.

Theres even a guy who can repair the lcd screens running an online store.

I just sold my 11c complete with the faux leather slip case, manual and box for more than new. Still had the receipt from the university book store in the box. It was mandatory to buy one for the engineering school classes.

Most of what’s posted here is not obsolete, just old, maybe a bit nostalgic.

Now if someone posts they are using a whale oil lamp, that would be a better example.

1950s-1960s Stanley Thermos, the ones made in America that keep things hot/cold 100x better than the new ones from China.

Definitely cane fly rods, and also some late 1960s-1970s Fenwick Glass Fly Rods.

I have a few Meerschaum pipes and others that have a lot of miles and “they don’t make them like they used to”.

When I was 18 I bought a century old floor standing humidor and restored it. That thing has been taking care of cigars for 125 years.

My gunsmithing toolboxes are all Gerstner chests from the 1930s.

My dembart checkering tools are older than I am.

I have a framing skilsaw 77 that is still the gold standard 40-50 years later.

Old made-in-America Craftsman screw drivers.

American made 60 gallon air compressor.

American made in 1960s Delta Variable speed drill press and my Burke MIllrite Vertical Milling Machine.

My workshop benches are all made by Lyon in Chicago of steel and American sourced hard rock maple tops.

My vises are all Schiller Park era Wilton Vises.

My kitchen cutlery is all long in the tooth German made Wusthoff and Henckels before they went to Spain and China.

My stereo speakers are all early 1990s Martin Logan Hydrostatics, my subwoofer is a REL from the same era.

Heck, two of the household cars are the no longer made Toyota FJ cruisers from the 2010s that are impeccably maintained and utterly reliable.

My fly fishing bag is a Hardy made 50+ years ago, my fly boxes are antique Wheatleys.

Most of my cufflinks are from the 1930s-1960s.

Most of my dress shoes were bench made in Spain in the late 1990s.

I’m at an age where I don’t need much, nor do I have extra funding for much while saving for kid’s college and my own retirement. Nonetheless, it seems like when I make a purchase I’m passionate about, its for something they don’t make anymore that was the best built of its type.

These antique fire extinguishers were hanging in the rafters in our hunting cabin in south central Pennsylvania until someone broke in and stole them. Thankfully they never were activated. Found out later they contained carbon tet.

You couldn't look more satisfied if you were holding a double 35 Whelen! Love a shotgun that "comes alive in your hands"
@steve white
The most obsolete thing I have and use on a daily basis is myself.
I'm a techno phone
Still deal in cash
Love blued steel and timber.
Still use old tools.
Am NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT
Call it how I see it
And basically don't give a shit about much other than family and friends.
I've been told I'm a burnt out old has been to that I reply I would prefer to be that than a never was and never will be you idiot.
I suppose I'm just an old dinosaur living on borrowed time and to old and stubborn to change

I believe Crown Princess Victoria has also hunted (although she may not be an avid hunter).

I had the opportunity to be present at a private meeting with her in the mid 2000’s… a member of her security detail that I was speaking with mentioned that he had recently taken her on a hunt and she was a good shot.. (we were having a typical guy talk about firearms, our side arms, shooting, training, etc.. which led to him talking about how His protectee was competent with firearms… mine on the other hand I wouldn’t let near a cap gun lol…. Great guy… but a gunslinger he was not…)…
Her siblings hunt also , and her sister is one that loves the nature very much .

I never go hunting with out my compass. It has never lied to me. My wife, now that's another matter.
Oh, and my turn table and my vinyl records.

Toilet paper - invented in 1890!
Not obsolete until...

My TV is obsolete- a 2008 Samsung DLP (digital light processor). I've replaced the mirror chipset once and maybe the lightbulb; can't remember. As long as they make those two parts, I hope to keep it running a long time.

Not quite obsolete, but archaic now. I've been using a pretty good RPN calculator on my phone but tired of reaching for it all the time or doing calcs while talking to someone (it happens). My mom bought me my first HP calculator, an 11C scientific, in 1985 I think it was $45US then. I still have its book somewhere and I need to buy a replacement to fill out my collection. Interesting tid-bit: from left to right country of manufacture- USA, USA, Singapore, Indonesia, China.

My savage 99F it is a none tang safety so made no later than 1960. Chambered in 308 given to me by my grandfather. I will use it 2026 for a Ontario Canada black bear hunt. It is a great rifle.

Compass, paper road maps (my truck’s doors are stuffed with them), slide rules(my grandfather taught me how to use one and even gave me a slide rule tie bar that actually works), handkerchiefs, old fishing lures (Hula Poppers, Jitterbug, Creek Chub Darter and Pikie Minnow)

My uncle hunted with one in .309 Savage. With the Schnabel fore end rotary magazine, those old girls had sex appeal! I always wanted one.

Funny story. When my partner and I started dating I was doing a lot of cooking at her place. So, I bought her a cast iron skillet for my use. She is OCD when it comes to cleanliness, she absolutely destroyed it by scrubbing and cleaning it. I had to buy another one. I still tease her about it to this day.
From a safe distance … after giving her one of her favourite treats?

My knees, hips, and lower back. Can’t afford the upgrades!
@Cucuy
Had to have an injection and ct scan to highlight the inflamed joints.
My son the radiographer asked if it was a human body. I told him yes why.
He said you know it lights up to show the inflammation and this isn't a human body it's a bloody Christmas tree. He smiled and said dad your body is stuffed.
I told him to tell me something I don't know.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
