Politics

People complaining about the “golden ball room” to me it’s a national embarrassment for our government to be holding official functions and larger State dinners in a tent.
It’s been years since I’ve been to the capital so I don’t know if there was a better option or not but it was sorely needed IMO.
In each of my previous lives, I was invited to an event at the Whitehouse. The comparison with our international allies and foes is absolutely laughable. Before every bit of nonsense became political, you would be hard pressed to find anyone in either party who thought the East Room was sufficient for events like state dinners or large diplomatic receptions. Holding them on the South Lawn in a fest tent is even worse. Like the current oval office, I have no doubt that the initial decorative efforts will be garish, but the next president or first lady can fix that.

Completely concur…

In a past life I was both blessed and privileged to spend a good bit of time bouncing between the residences and offices of numerous notable heads of state… I’ve been inside the kremlin, the great peoples hall, the Japanese emperors residence and Japanese PMs residence, 10 Downing Street, the offices and inner spaces of the Vatican, the White House and many others..

The east wing of the white house pales in comparison to pretty much all others…

Honestly the president of nigerias residence is pretty close to being on par with parts of the White House…

Were anyone other than Trump doing this both party’s would be in absolute support… especially since no tax dollars are being spent…

If this is the best argument the D’s and idiots on The View can come up with this week.. they truly are out of reasonable issues to discuss or debate..

I’m pretty indifferent about Trump.. there are things I support him on… there are things I think he could do significantly better… I am FAR from a loyalist or a blind supporter and have been quick to call out things I think are bad moves, and certainly express concerns fairly regularly…

This is a great big bag of nothing… and blatantly stupid to argue against by the D’s.. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder can see the upside here and understand there’s no significant downside…

Hillary being so vocally opposed to it makes me wonder if her cognitive ability hasn’t slipped to Biden levels recently…

Its not politics at all, do you condemn people chanting from the river to the sea?

Can you explain why one would condemn the Palestinian people for saying they want their stolen land back?

For over 100 years the Zionist Jews have been plotting to steal Palestine to create a new Jewish homeland and committing the war crime of ethnic cleansing to accomplish it.

They have stolen about 95% of Palestine and displaced about five million refugees who have been forced out of their homes.

And somehow you want to blame the Palestinians?

You defy all logic.

Most if not all talking points are straight off various Reddit topics.
That's a lie.

My sources are links from respected news providers.

Obvious that @Frostbite has learned to cut and paste AI query responses. Who knows the questions asked to garner those responses? Also obvious he frequents various left blogs then regurgitates the info by simply reposting their crap. His MO is simple and so easy to recognize… cut and paste then add a short footnote of his own at the end to sound subjectively credible. A communication and debate method used by many self deluded pseudo intellectuals. :)

LOL!
Nigeria:
  • Recent election irregularities: The 2023 presidential and legislative elections, which brought President Bola Tinubu to power, were widely criticized for irregularities, technological failures, and instances of voter intimidation.
  • Political corruption: Rampant corruption is a critical challenge that erodes public trust, undermines institutions, and hinders socio-economic progress.
  • Weak rule of law: The judicial system is slow, inefficient, and susceptible to corruption. Selective prosecution is common, and the independence of key institutions like the electoral commission is frequently undermined. International organizations, such as International IDEA, have noted a significant decline in judicial independence and access to justice.
  • Shrinking civic space: Despite the presence of civil society, recent reports note a "systematic attempt to decimate political opposition," harass journalists, and target civil society organizations.
Sound familiar?
So Nigeria has a Golden Ballroom and America is gonna get one too.

How wonderful.

Why is America starting to sound like a Banana Republic?

Enormous challenges abound. Press freedom, for example, is not fully realized, as journalists continue to face harassment, arrest, and detention primarily by state security agents. The Center for Journalism Innovation and Developments reports that over a thousand journalists have been arrested and detained in Nigeria since the mid-1980s. The deteriorating condition for independent journalism in Nigeria is disconcerting, as highlighted by the recent arrest of 26-year-old Daniel Ojukwu on May 1, 2024, in Lagos. His arrest followed investigative reporting disclosing corruption involving senior Nigerian officials, which raised concerns about press freedom in the country.

There will always be an audience here because some want to hear the truth instead of the same lies and babble day after day spewed by Fox News and Trump.

Care to comment on the "giants skeletons" that were documented heavily in the 1800,s. I knew an old cowboy that actually found one in an Oregon lakebed.

There is a lot of folklore that giants have been discovered all over America in the 19th century and the Smithsonian seized all of them...very hush, hush. The problem I have is there is no forensic evidence to support any of it. No undoctored photographs. No properly coordinated archeological dig with any field notes. No bones.

For those reasons, I do not believe there was a race of giants in the Americas because there is no direct evidence.

As a super, super tall person I will mention personal experiences of tall people, however. There is an unconscious bias in favor of taller people and I could cite many examples of how that is the case if you'd wish. I think its evolution that leans towards "tallest" being in authority roles and its quite common for famous leaders/generals actual heights to have been embellished. For that reason in all cultures, I would expect mythologies of "giants" to be pretty common and indeed it is.

Nonetheless, the folklore of skeletons of "giants" meaning 9-12' tall people has no supporting direct evidence, anywhere.

No tax dollars?

LOL! Who's paying for the heavy machinery that is currently destroying the historic East Wing?

We don't know because we don't see the bills.

But the key thing is..........even if money from billionaires really pays for this Golden Ballroom..........why spend it on a Golden Ballroom instead of homeless veterans and the mentally ill and poor and hungry American citizens with no health care?

America is going backward rather than forward.

Rather than "Great Again" America is becoming a country where the rich are getting richer with more gold and the poor are getting poorer.

The thinking on this expense and destruction of an historic structure is profoundly unwise.

100% agree, there have been tales of giants inhabiting the barrier islands of south Alabama that are now occupied by Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan. Lots of people talk of being escorted off of certain areas and digging up bones during construction but no one has ever produced a photo, bone or any other type of physical evidence to my knowledge.
One of my farm workers swears that it’s true but can’t produce any evidence at all, it’s just stories handed down from generation to generation.
I would think if a race of giants has been discovered it would be celebrated and a significant find and not covered up as people say the Smithsonian has done. What advantages would that serve mankind and our history?

You might be right about that..........BOTH parties might support a Golden Ballroom and the Golden Oval Office and the Golden Airplane and all the other gold that has been appearing.

No surprise considering that both Parties are led by fools who care only about preserving their own power and wealth.

Also very odd you are posting on the political forum when you want to stay out of politics on an Africa Hunting forum when you dont hunt Africa.

Till next time!
Thanks for your opinion - it's worth less than I paid for it.

As a similar giant anecdote, in South Charleston, WV there is a large mound near the city center. The Appalachians actual would have picnics on it and conduct horse races around the base of it. Eventually, an archeologist dug it up and sure enough, it was a burial mound of native Americans. The warriors were on the outside circle and the chief was in the center and he was very tall. (somewhere between 6'6" and 7'). The folklore got ahold of this and stated he was taller than that and his hair was red. I have no idea if his hair was intact, but of course any Native American decaying could have their necrotic hair oxidize to a red tint. Nonetheless, the locals believed that giant Vikings/Celts ruled the local tribes, exactly the kind of folklore early settlers would love to propagate.

As to the Smithsonian Giant conspiracy, it is my opinion that those spreading this myth were very fundamentalist Christian. (not in the good way) On the fringe of fundamentalism they believe that scientists are in league with Satan, trying to destroy evidence to support the Bible. This could be "Nephilim" giant bones or it could be Noah's Ark. The late 19th and early 20th century stories of a giant cover-up all had an angle of "repent, the Bible is true" and scientists don't want you to know the truth.

Poor people losing healthcare? Requiring work for benefits is a good thing and our healthcare system is for citizens, not illegal immigrants!
Illegal immigrants cannot use Medicare or Medicaid. It's illegal. They can only go to the emergency room where they may or may not be treated and if they are it ends up costing the rest of us anyway.

Far better that poor citizens get access to affordable and reliable health care that saves us money in the long run.

Your "work for benefits" an oxymoron on its face........if work is a requirement it is not a "benefit" it's a quid pro quo.

That's the deceptive language that the rich use to oppress the poor.

The killing problem is that many disabilities are far from easily identified by even the most qualified doctors and psychiatrists.

Who decides who is able to work?

Poorly educated Trump supporters?

They seem to think they know everything about everything.

A lot of discussion of giants and fossils is appearing here.

Don't see how that pertains to POLITICS.

Unless it's a cryptic way of saying that the fossil Trump was a giant mistake.

:D

Since this thread as of recently has shifted into troll versus non-troll discussions, let me shift pages and bring up a couple political points to debate related to archaeology. Feel free to disagree and cite any facts you wish. @Red Leg and I have been having a bit of fun via PM wrestling with these topics which has been enjoyable.

Ancient Civilizations

1.) I assert that the Khafre, Khufu, and Mankaure's pyramids at Giza are far, far older than 4500BCE.

2.) The pre-dynastic pots that are ubiquitous were not made with technology available to the Egyptians as we understand it.

3.) Thriving, advanced cultures were extinguished around 11,600 years ago in the Younger Dryas, probably by massive comet bombardment or other catastrophe. As such, the lush greenery of the Sahara became a desert in about 100 years while the Great Northern Shield glacier over North America melted in days to months, not a 1000 years.

4.) Archaeologists are not searching in the right strata of earth, nor in the right regions of the world to explain this epoch of history. Archaeologists are so blinded by "settled history" they will not publish on the topic if any findings would disagree with the mainstream orthodoxy.

Change my mind.

I really enjoy Graham Hancock's documentary series, which you can catch on Netflix. He has been one of the more persuasive proponents of a relatively advanced civilization that was destroyed by the Younger Dryas event that left elements of its knowledge among surviving groups worldwide. However, like the whole UFO debate, I feel the actual physical evidence is very thin to non-existent. Deductive reasoning is a useful attribute but can only lead one in the pursuit of potential evidence - not the exclusion of it.

So, my first question is where are they? We supposedly have products of their technology but somehow the implements that created those products have never been discovered. A comet impact could indeed destroy a civilization, but it would not vaporize it worldwide. Where are their cities, where are their graves, and where are those pesky tools? After all, we have more physical evidence of Neanderthals than we do this mysterious lost civilization.

I can't buy the notion that seas rose and covered everything. After all, the Mediterranean could rise a hundred feet tomorrow submerging Athens but the Acropolis would still be there. Others have suggested these cities are buried in deserts like the Sahara or perhaps under jungle canopies. The problem with that theory is these places have been extensively mapped by satellite with no finds older than the Younger Dryer that are not hunter gatherer encampments. Hancock did a whole episode on a lost civilization that was overgrown by the Amazon rain forest, but even he could not claim the remains were pre-Younger Dryer and there was zero evidence of sophisticated stone working technology.

The oceans of the world are also full of shipwrecks. One would assume that this advanced people sailed something somewhere. To date no wreck has been excavated containing artifacts of that age.

Such a civilization would require extensive agriculture and the domestication of animals. I am no geneticist, but the people who study this sort of thing trace domestication of crops to Turkey around 9,000 BC and animals to Iraq around 8500 years ago. That tends to fit the generally accepted development timeline.

The site of Göbekli Tepe in Turkey (dated to around 11,000 years ago) gets a lot of attention because it seems to be the first of the post Younger Dryer sites. The primary argument it is used to make for an earlier civilization is that the inhabitants of that time should not have been able to build such structures. OK, then what is the actual evidence they did not? After all, on this continent, the Aztecs, Inca, and Maya developed extraordinary building skills long after the Younger Dryer and in issolation.

But yes, just like UFOs zipping around New Jersey, they may well exist. But until hard physical evidence is discovered, I think I'll stick with the current collectively accepted human development timeline.
