So more culture war then politics (which of course are related if not the same) but I’m glad the weirdness that seemed to coincide with the last administration has abated for a while.

Just like the Russkies have a couple of subs off of each coast of the USA.

It's just posturing and gamesmanship. I doubt Putin is shaking in his shoes over it.

The difference is that a Los Angeles or Virginia class attack boat is keeping close company of any Russian boomer deployed in its launch area. Our submarine technology remains far superior to the Russians.

Our Ohio class remains essentially undetectable. We will not expose an Ohio under any conditions. They are in rotating deployment in their engagement areas, which because of the range of the Trident II D5 SLBM, is not anywhere near the coasts of the Russian Republic or China.

I assume he could order the deployment of cruise missile equipped attack boats near the Russian coasts, or as @Altitude sickness suggests, make them aware of boats already operating there.

True. The Trident 2 has significant range, depending on configuration. The one main advantage of being offshore, is response, and time to target.
