Midway lists the sale price at 2800. Price trackers have it much lower. But every time one comes up on gunbroker… The price goes 1k more than msrp.

What’s the deal? Are they really so rare? Is a new lot expected to be produced any time soon?

I get the same question every time I look at gun prices. I have not seen much of anything that is much lower than msrp, unless it was a handgun that after the cost of getting it from VA to NC kills any savings. Locally I have seen even used Glocks at full price!

Demand outstrips availability.

Common/widespread guns like Ruger Americans, etc. are always usually less than MSRP. But any type of limited release gun is expensive as heck because 100 people want the 50 guns made.

That also leads to scalping, where someone will buy every one the can find available just to mark it up 25% and resell

Midway isn’t the cheapest on anything anymore.

I’d say if you can find a m70 current production in the low to mid 2k’s it’s a fantastic value

I paid a 20% deposit on a purchase price of $1,686 a little over a month ago for mine. It's not due in until October though.:(

Are the 375s commanding a higher price than the 416s and 458?

I paid $2,300 (CAD) for my 458.

Be patient. Folks being impatient is the reason for crazy prices on gun broker. I have never and probably won’t ever buy a gun through that ridiculous website. I certainly wouldn’t buy one the new Winchester rifles without being able to inspect the exact rifle in person. Craftsmanship is not what it once was, here, there, or anywhere.

It's a sellers market, if your planning a safari and need a rifle there aren't many choices out there!

Ruger M77s are still fairly common in 375/416 Ruger if shopping on a budget.

What craftsmanship problems?

I have had one New Haven and about 4 Portugal .375 H&H Winchester Safaris/Alaskan. Currently own a just off the production line .416 Rem Mag. I have seen no craftsmanship problems and the .375s have been some of the most accurate rifles I’ve owned.

Thanks again to Mark Biggerstaff for getting me the .416.

Pardon, they list at 1800, fat fingered the wrong key.

Where were you able to put a deposit on one? I'm willing to wait and save $1k.

I won't hate on Gunbroker too much. I've had a couple of good buys off it for rarer used guns on it. A beautiful S&W m58 41mag and a non-tang_safety Miroku 1886 Winchester 45-70. But, wow new production stuff seems way too high priced.

Yep. My deposit is in, just waiting for it to ship. According to the vendor, sometime in October. Someone else purchased at the same place before me, not sure when, and his is slated to ship in August.

I ordered a Winchester mod 70 safari express 416 Remington magnum 2 1/2 years ago and finally received it in April 2025, when I ordered it they said it would ship in about 3 months! Hopefully you'll get yours in October, of this year!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
