Trump is said to have lowered Chinese tariffs because of the disadvantages for his own voter base

The White House is said to have lowered tariffs against China after warnings of disadvantages for large parts of Trump's electorate - including port workers and truck drivers. The Washington Post reconstructs this with reference to two people who are familiar with the events.

Decisive for this were warnings from advisers, Secretary of Finance Scott Bessent and Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles that the punitive tariffs could hit central voter groups in particular economically. The measures have already had a noticeable impact on the US economy and led to uncertainty in international markets.

"We've seen Trump stand up to his neck when it comes to business for the first time," said Doug Heye, a Republican communications strategist who worked for former House of Representatives Majority Leader Eric Cantor. That was the reason for Trump's decision to lower tariffs. »It hits a core of its DNA – the economy and business. That made it difficult for him to maintain these customs."

I think it has more to do with the Chinese knowing their about to have financial ruin and people are already protesting and burning factories down because they haven't been paid in months....

USA has dropped its tariffs from 145% to 30% on Chinese goods
China has dropped its tariffs from 125% to 10% on USA goods

China would not have done this if they had leverage in the situation; it's merely China trying to save face and combat the massive exit of foreign investment that has occurred; if they had not agreed to the 90 day pause the CCP would have catastrophe on their hands.

Unfortunately the power utility equipment with back door switch’s is still a huge vulnerability.
