Browning Love?

I couldn’t resist the temptation any longer. Reed’s lowered the price of the Browning X Bolt Medallion .375 H&H to $999 from $1199. I missed the Browning rebate time cutoff of April 14th and wasn’t going to buy one until I looked at their website yesterday. I think they only have a handful left?

Wow. You must have caught a lightning deal. I just looked and it's back up at $1,199. I got the rebate check pretty quickly. $119. You still made just a little better on a gross basis than I did (shipping and transfer fees aside).

The X bolt 2 Hunter models w/ walnut or maple stocks are out now. Lots of them for sale everywhere but sadly not in .338 WINCHESTER MAGNUM or .375 HOLLAND and HOLLAND.

When I spoke to Browning on the phone regarding the Reed's rifles, they didn't even know they made a special batch. When I gave him the SKU he looked it up and found the details.

I asked if they were planning to release any 375HH in the X-Bolt 2 and he said "not to his knowledge but maybe in the future."

I’m seeing the same as CoElk.

Yes now I see it too. I don't know what that was about. That's a steal.

They had about 50 left when I bought mine a month ago.

EDIT: They definitely just flipped the price back to $1,199

I recently got a Browning Bar Mark III DBM semi-auto rifle in .308 with wood stock and it's awesome. It looks more like a traditional hunting rifle with the wood furniture, but functions like a light-weight but very accurate AR-10.

Never jammed on me so far despite putting hundreds of rounds of cheap bulk ammo through it, very accurate to hit steel with out to 500 yards, recoil is well absorbed by the action and rubber butt pad, its my current favorite big game hunting rifle/range toy.

To give you an idea of well this rifle shoots, I was at the range just yesterday with it and a friend of mine who is fairly inexperienced with rifles was able to hit all three swinging targets at the 200 yard line at our local range with it, three shots, three hits, the smallest target was only about 2" across, that's at 200 yards with a semi-auto rifle and cheap bulk ammo (Wyoming Cartridge 147 grain FMJ you can buy online in bulk for about 77 cents per shot).

I plan to use it for my American Pronghorn hunt this fall.

Browning also makes really great o/u shotguns, especially the Citori line.

Plus, as an added bonus, the Browning BAR DBM is featured as the "boxcar" rifle in the online hunting game called "Hunting Battle" and yes, I am dorky enough to think its cool to have the real world version of my favorite video game rifle.

I own several Browning X-Bolts and an X-Bolt 2. They come with a lot of features I used to pay a gunsmith for such as trigger work, recoil pad, muzzle brake. I find the X-Bolts very comfortable to shoot even in the hard kicking calibers. You won't go wrong with a Browning X-Bolt!

Comical, unless you’re after one. Still $999 here in PA.

Now it's showing $999. At least I don't feel left out. I already bought one at $1199 with the rebate which was $119. Even at $1199 that's still an awesome deal for a rifle that may never be made again.

When I first saw these on GB in late March, I sent an email via “ask seller a question” inquiring where Reeds found these. I thought they were a batch of NOS from several years ago? Somebody from Reeds responded and basically said, “Well when you’re the largest Browning retailer in the country, Browning will do what you ask for”. So, Reeds had Browning make them a 50-60 rifle batch of these .375 Medallions for ONLY Reeds to sell. I was amazed, but I guess it’s done throughout the firearms industry with those types of special requests from time to time? Anyway, I responded and said if they could get Browning to make the same rifle in .338 WINCHESTER MAGNUM, I’d buy one too. No response but we shall see.

Yeah, Reeds is a great seller. Unlike GB, no sales tax to out of state buyers and $20 shipping. Randomly, I bought my first and only new CZ550 (.458WM) from them in 2018 for $1,019. If had known CZ was ceasing production of the 550 around that timeframe, I would’ve found a way to buy a couple of more. Oh well.

Recently under $1200 at Cabela’s with sales and Browning tax rebate. Xbolt .28 Nosler in carbon fiber.

My first rifle as a kid was a Browning T-Bolt. In the ‘80’s I added an A-Bolt in 7mm mag that has accounted for several critters. For a retirement gift to myself, I bought a Cynergy 12ga. Late last year, I picked up a X-Bolt in .308. So far it has only given fair accuracy.

John McAdams sent out an email on the sale one day and stuff went quick. I was lucky enough to snag one. I was wanting a 7mm but they went fast!
Well, I never got his email. LOL

Looking through the classifieds and article on rifles I don't see alot of talk about browning rifles like the x-bolt, x-bolt ii or A-bolts. Is there a reason or am I just missing the right articles. The Medallion rifles look very nice and seem to be fairly accurate on the few reviews I have read or watched. What is the general opinion on Browning's?
Back in the late '80's I was selling sporting goods for s wholesale house. An old friend of mine had said that he wanted a Browning A-Bolt in .30-06. I found one in one for f the stores I called on in another city. I went with.him and he bought it. He was happy and I was.proud of myself. We sighted in the rifle and then we went.hunting.

One morning we got out of the truck he was behind.me when he loaded up and closed the bolt. The rifle went off. He had his left hand on the forestock and his right hand on the wrist. He swore that he had not touched the trigger and had just closed the bolt. He had the rifle pointed away from me. I could not see anything that that would indicate that he had done anything unsafe. I.never did understand what had gone wrong, but I never really have forgiven the Japanese Brownings for the AD.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
