Are the conventions for SCI and DSC really a month apart in 2026?

Yes, unless some moves one. That’s an opportunity for DSC to move closer to SCI and try to get some exhibitors to return.

I know African outfitters that only come over to those two shows. This will be tough on them.

From a marketing perspective, proximity, timing, logistics, and cost; including their return on investment, prevent some of the smaller businesses exhibiting both venues. Close proximity as well as exhibition dates definitely maximizes cost efficiencies. I definitely would like to see this (close dates and locations) happen because there were vendors I definitely had pegged for business that were in Atlanta but sadly weren't at Nashville.

Difficult for some.. but most I know use the time between shows to travel to see clients that they have built long term relationships with.. and often have "house parties" at those clients homes while they are there.. they make good use of the time, and find other opportunities to generate sales during the down time between shows..

A typical house party might only have 4 or 5 couples attending.. but my understanding is they are often productive for the outfitters since they have someone physically present (homeowner/client) that knows them, trusts them, can speak highly of them, etc.. and they have a captive audience with the other attendees that have an interest in hunting.. and no competition is present..

I'm glad the Dallas Safari Club is putting the "Dallas" back in its convention sites starting in a couple years.

Where are you getting that information?

The show is in Atlanta for the next couple of years… then transitions to Houston for a few years… after that its location is undetermined..

That’s per the CEO just this past week…

The commitment was “get back to Texas”… not get back to Dallas..

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
