More than anything, halting issuance of the penny is a sad recognition of the long term erosion of the dollar. Both parties own it.

Yeah, would be nice if for the next fiscal year we wouldn't need to magic more money into existence by borrowing a couple trillion more. At least it would start putting a halt to the erosion.

Perhaps DOGE will find a couple $T worth of waste, fraud, and abuse before the next budget cycle starts.

It's hard to get your mind over how corrupt things are and how long they have gone on. Benz started showing up in some of the things I read 2-3 years ago. A little over a year ago he exploded onto the scene as the American election started gearing up and I think his following as gone up again after USAID was shut down. After reading or listening to his stuff a few times you start being able to understand the Potemkin Village America has become.

Benz may be the best open source researcher in getting down into the rabbit warren especially on American foreign affairs. If all this is going on in foreign affairs, it may be scary when we start getting into domestic agencies.

Congress has failed the American people regarding oversight. I'm almost afraid to find out the why, but the light needs to expose it all.

I was having a conversation recently. It started with Biden being absolutely the worst US President.

I pushed back with my opinion that there have been several worse than Carter and even Biden.

IMHO One of the worst is the Democrats lord and savior FDR. He was the father of many of the failed programs we talk about now. And he prolonged the depression with his socialist programs. The only thing that saved our country from his war on wealth and industry was Hitler and Pearl Harbor.

He blamed the a Great Depression on JP Morgan Jr and the other captains of industry. And was going full steam on destroying their businesses that pulled America into the Industrial Revolution and out of poverty.

So to garner favor with the citizens that wanted someone to blame for the depression. FDR was going to break up Boeing/ United airlines which carried all the US mail at that time. His genius idea was to hand the air mail routes over to the army air corp with their World War I planes. Within 60 days. They had 60 crashes and many of their young army air corp pilots were dead. He fully believed the government could do everything better.

So he was in full blown war with Henry Ford, Walter Chrysler, Pierre DuPont, Michael Boeing and JP Morgan. He would have destroyed their industries.

BUT !

Hitler invaded Poland then France and Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. The US had almost zero ability to build war ships, planes, tanks, guns and ammo.

Guess who FDR needed to build our war machine. All the people he was currently trying to destroy. And if given two more years would have.

FDR campaigned on such things as calling Pierre DuPont the “Merchant of Death” for making a fortune on gunpowder for WW1.

Now he sent an envoy to beg them to help build the needed weapons. They all refused initially because of his war against them. Then when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor they got on board.

Edsel Ford used the assembly line technique to pump out bombers, Chrysler built tanks, Boeing made the B29. Henry Kaiser built the ships, DuPont supplied the uranium for the Manhattan project. JP Morgan funded most of it.

So that is a long way of saying that most people give FDR credit for helping to win WW2.

Yep FDR was a government is god type president, but thank God we had some cantankerous, big ego generals to push our troops on to victory ,and they argued with him . He even ended up firing McArthur later on. And good for us Harry Truman put his boot on japans neck for the grand finale victory. He did start up the CCC which gave alot of men the chance to work. Was he worse than O biden , not sure about that they are both rotten apples.

I was wrong about a major thing on Trump. I thought if he got elected, he would immediately become a lame duck and wouldn’t be able to get anything done. Instead, Trump can’t run for reelection so he absolutely doesn’t give a crap what people think. He is doing what he promised and what he thinks is right. A lot of the government downsizing is overdue. I just hope he doesn’t throw the baby out with the wash water. I read that during Trump’s first term, The Weather Channel and Accuweather was trying to get Trump to eliminate or privatize the National Weather Service. Not sure that’s a good idea.

If we’re going to bash former presidents, let’s not forget Lincoln. Many of the federal policies that are our bane today began with his vision for a stronger federal government and diminished states rights. You don’t have to read very far in his writings to realize that the war was actually about federalism.

I think the citizens allowed Lincoln to seize more and more power during the Civil War just as FDR during WW2. We have even seen it demonstrated 4-5 yrs ago. People will take government overreach and “security” over freedom every time.

The citizens almost demand the president become a King or dictator. Who do we give credit or blame to for our woes.

Even Trump needs to be checked by the courts and congress. Congress needs to codify the EO’s

My original post on FDR could be adjusted for several US Presidents. And would make a good conversation. The issue I have is that FDR is often given credit for winning WW2 and leading us out of the depression. And neither is true.

I believe we can go ahead and make a blanket statement that virtually every ill that affects our society has its roots in government.

For example, mass murders where the shooter was known to one government entity but they didn’t share their intel with other agencies who could have prevented the crime. Virtually every school shooting in recent years involved government agencies who refused to share their data with other law enforcement agencies.

Then a welfare system that disincentivized millions of people and destroyed the black family structure in America, evading to fatherless children, increased crime and the need for more government support.

To Jimmy Carter’s huge blunder with healthcare. Have trouble finding a doctor these days? Blame Jimmy. In 1980, just as his term was coming to an end, the federal government commissioned a study on the number of doctors graduating from America’s teaching hospitals. They estimated by around 1990 they would have 20,000 more doctors than the country needed. So they placed an entry throttle on students getting into medical schools. What they overlooked was the population growth. We now have over 100 million more people in American than we did 45 years ago.

The examples could go on ad nauseam, but I think we can each come up with plenty of examples of our own.
