Hello fellow AH'ers. I've made it to another milestone post so thought I'd make my first poll question to go with it. Been on AH almost 14 years now, and have learned so much and made quite a few great connections over the years. I've met quite a few of you as well over the years in Dallas or on my work travels across the county. This place is a wealth of knowledge, and I am certainly glad I found this forum in 2011!

Regarding the poll, a few notes. I've been to SA many times, may go back someday but for now I am focusing on the countries in the poll. I've been fortunate to hunt Zim and Zam already as well, love them both and intend to go back to both at some point. I have also hunted in TZ. I have not been to Moz or Namibia yet.

Anyways just a fun poll for the crowd, and a way to say I really enjoy and appreciate this forum and the folks on it!

Zambia Kafue region in Kansonso Busanga for buffalo or leopard with sable and PG. There are other unique PG there that you can’t get in the places you list.

Namibia is a beautiful country and has the second largest safari industry in Africa, behind SA. The country’s infrastructure is first rate, so getting around (and crucially, the moving of supplies) is easy. This is reflected in some very attractive prices for Safaris there. There are some really remote areas in Namibia. Every bit as wild as ZIM and ZAM.

I’ve hunted a really nice place in the Erongo area of Namibia. They’re a small, family run outfit. The PH is the co-owner with his dad. They own 12.5K acres and have access to a conservancy (of which they’re part) of 500K. PG and Leopard are on offer on their home ranch. The PH is DG qualified. I hear that the Zambezi region of Namibia (formerly the Caprivi strip) offers some excellent DG hunts and good PG too. The day rate and trophy fees in are higher than a lot of places, but the lower cost of logistics makes it competitive. PM me if you’d like their name.

I haven’t been the MOZ yet, but it’s on the list.

@Green Chile , the only DG I'm missing from the dangerous 7 is leopard. No interest tiny 10 and have all the common and quite a few uncommon PG I want for now. That being said, if in a new area or country, I'd probably be keen on taking some area specific pg.

I think all of those are good choices Charles. You might want to check with @spike.t, he ran a great offer on PG a few weeks ago. I can speak to Moz, specifically the Niassa with @KWALATA SAFARIS. The Niassa and the L9 block he hunts is spectacular.

If seriously considering leopard, you'd better make a decision quick I'd say. One outfitter told me if he had 50 leopards this year, he'd sell them out in minutes. 2026 quota is going fast too.

I would suggest Moz for leopard and there are lot of buff there. You can always take another good buff or two! The big buff herds in the swamp grass are interesting. Craig Boddington has been to most places and he returns to Moz every year for the last decade plus.

I’ve heard Zambia is the best place to concentrate on leopard only. Some outfits have been 100% kill for decades.

I think you would get a leopard in Zambia or Mozambique but Zambian leopards are usually bigger and the PG is more unique. You could get a huge sable, puku, sitatunga and lechwe if you want. Got to shoot some bait animals anyway so they might as well be something unique?

I personally think Moz is a very underrated big game hunting area and can compare favourable to other areas like Zim and Bots. From Niassa up north , to the savannah area next to Gonarezhou has some exceptional hunting especially for buffalo.

Considering your diverse travels to date, I would suggest that a coastal forest hunt will present an environment, and species list, completely novel to your current hunting experiences.
