If you knew how the industry works, then you'd understand that it still works to clean up the environment.

The carbon credits (and NOx, SOx) are allocated on a yearly basis on a sliding scale.
Some hypothetical numbers...
Year1 - 50 tons.
Year 2 - 45 tons
Year 3 - 40 tons etc., etc.

In order to comply companies have to improve their equipment to emit less and/or buy credits from someone that has a surplus.

Eventually, supply of credits diminishes and companies are forced to improve their emissions. Or move their plants to China or Mexico so they don' have to deal with the regulations.

Alternative perspective? I know people and groups that have substantial properties. They have zero interest in slashing and burning their forests. Zero.

But they are receiving funds to buy their carbon offsets under the premise that they are conserving something that provides the indulgence for a carbon consumer.

I'm actually looking at whether I can do it for my river frontage, virgin forest, and pollinator prairie at my home. "Buy my carbon credits or I'll pave it all and turn it into a parking lot". (If you believe my threat...please send free money)

No one should partner with Trump in any venture. He has a history of turning against people that worked with him or for him. That includes his cabinet etc. from 2016.

One thing one can count on about Trump, and that is one cannot count on him for anything. Boggles the mind that people, so obliviously, worship the ground he walks on.

That's been my problem with him all along (ok, "one" of my problems with him), is that he has never done more than partially deliver on anything in his entire career; and that's a best-case scenario. While he may be viewed by some as the lesser of two evils when running against Biden, you have to know up front that you will NEVER get a fully delivered answer or promise out of him...EVER!

To use a shipping analogy, he has always left behind a wake of disappointment and lackluster results.

Yeah, all the Pizza joints fired all their delivery drivers last year in anticipation. Told customers to use DoorDash or Uber Eats etc. if they want delivery.

The only exception that is carved out is Panera Bread company owned by a major donor.

However, one can also look at this as a way to have people consider making healthier food choices.

Taco Bell! LOL

Another recall against Newson is brewing in California. He'll probably beat that one, just like he did the first one

Explain to me please why it is wrong for companies to build data centers etc. and buy power? How do you think this site is hosted?

What does surprise me though is if power requirement is so great why they do not generate their own power. We have multiple clients with similar power requirements that generate their own power using either IC engines or boilers. They literally save millions each year buy not buying power from the grid. The ROI is only a few years.

In regard to being "carbon neutral" if one is buying carbon credits then they can be carbon neutral. That does not mean no emissions. As a matter of fact ,analyzers and software we provide to clients measure what is emitted so clients can buy the right amount of emissions credits if they exceed their allocation or in some cases sell their surplus allocation to others.

Here is a screenshot from one our cabinets of data we track for the client and also directly report electronically to government agencies per regulations. We totalize all emissions daily, monthly and yearly. Client buys or sells emissions credits based on their allocation. I wonder what the light company would have charged them for constant 20MW usage?

There are new data centers being built with their own power generation capability, so your idea certainly has merit!

So you're saying that Biden is somehow more trustworthy? Really?

I'm not a great fan of Trump either, but you do have to give him credit for his actions on the Southern border, and he did well on his SCOTUS nominations. Two things he made promises about and followed through. Other things he made promises about were blocked by the Democrat controlled Senate and Congress.

I will not be happy no matter who wins in November, but I will be less pissed off if it's Trump.

More trustworthy? Absolutely.

You may disagree with Biden’s policies, but you can trust that he will push for them.

Trump, on the other hand, has flipped and flopped on just about everything from guns to abortion to TikTok. You may agree with more of Trump’s stated policies, but you can hardly be certain that he will not change them on a whim or when it serves him.

In regard to SCOTUS nominations credit really goes to Mitch McConnell for stopping Garland nomination and shepherding the nominees through the Senate, and to Heritage Foundation for vetting the nominees and giving Trump fully vetted candidates. Any GOP POTUS would have been able to fill those seats..

On the border Trump was on the right path obviously and gets full credit for stemming the illegal alien tide. I think in one month of Biden administration there were almost as many illegals coming through as there were during a year of Trump.

I know the "blocked by congress" thing has become part of the Trump mythology, but he had both houses in 2016 - for two bleeding years. He could have accomplished anything he wanted to do. He gets a total pass on the border wall (I give him credit on the deal with Mexico), Covid (HIS vaccines and HIS mandates), and that whole swamp thing that he will never address because he can't. Thank God for SCOTUS, but for that I reserve my admiration for McConnel.

I am no supporter of Biden, but to believe Trump is somehow a truly superior choice defies my sense of logic. I still can not wrap my head around these two ancient inarticulate cretins are our choices with DeSantis and Haley cast to the side.

Not to mention flip flopping on elephant trophy imports when he got some pushback on Twitter.

So you're happy with the Southern border as it is now? And you would like like it better if Hillary could have picked the Supreme Court nominees instead of those chosen by Trump.

No doubt about it, Trump.is obnoxious. Worship.the ground he walks on? Not hardly. Was he.better at being the POTUS than Biden? Obviously.

I agree with you for the most part. However, what we CAN count on with Brandon is he will continue to destroy our economy and societal norms through his unelected agency bureaucrats with continuing focus on draconian energy, climate change (EVs) and social DEI rules and regulations. I don't care if it's Trump or another Republican like De Santis or someone else that gets elected as President, but if Brandon gets another four years we're really screwed IMO.

Hitler pushed for his policies too.

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
