From my observation post, I think you have it exactly backwards.
This self-indulgent nearly eighty-year-old adolescent named Trump is interviewing for my vote. I am not begging for the privilege of voting for him. I am looking to hire someone as president to represent my interests. He may indeed be the nominee of the republican party, and many of his acolytes may not care that he takes their vote for granted. But he can't take mine for granted, and he is not only doing nothing to win it, he has actually rejected it.
You are correct, I am indeed educated enough to know he needs my vote and a lot of traditional republicans just like me. Regrettably, he is either so uneducated or so stupid or so caught up in his own narcissism that he and his blind followers have forgotten who is doing the asking and who makes the hiring decision.
I could be totally wrong, but I don't think this deal with the devil it is likely not to work out well for my party or the country.
And in what universe do you believe "most of the country is supporting Trump?" I'm not, and I am hardly alone.
