Does anybody have knowledge of which ammo were being used at the factory for regulating early 2000"s Merkel 140 safari in 375 H&H ?
TIA.

I know nothing about factory ammo in a Merkel 140 but...

My handloads of 300 gr TSX at 2500 fps printed 3.5" at 100 yards. I have not yet "dialed in" the load but I think I can shrink the 100 yard group even smaller.

The rifle is a Merkel 140AE with factory installed Recknagel ERA pivot (side swing) mounts and a 1-4x Bushnell Elite scope.

If it is any help, try a 300 grain bullet, pushed by H4350 (if available) to 2500 fps as a starting point, for what its worth.

Hi, in August 2006 my Merkel 140A double rifle was regulated and tested with RWS 19,5 g TUG
But Herr Sovik,
did you permit them to regulate the rifle without any stipulation as to whether you would be shooting soft points or solids ? The Merkel double rifles which were to be used with solid ammunition by customers back in those days, were always regulated with Hornady ammunition.

I just bought the rifle "from a closet" where it has been sitting since 2012. The original "test sheet" attached is the only information I can give you.

I assume the rifle was regular not belted 375 H&H ?
I think most maybe all of the Merkels made in the early 2000's was for regular 375 H&H?

The rifle is chambered in the original .375 H&H Belted Magnum Rimless (without the flange), originally designed for bolt rifles. These days it might be just fine regarding ammo awailability ?

Flanged ammo for 375 unless you reload is almost impossible to find as far as I know.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
