All,

I spent a great amount of time researching plains game hunts, talking to outfitters and ph's and put together what I thought was a great hunt. I put my deposit down and was to actually go on the hunt last week ( Oct. 2012). About 7 weeks ago I was diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer.

Well needless to say, hunting is now quite down on my priority list as I'm fighting for my life. I put down a deposit of $2400 USD, which is non refundable. I'm not physically going to be able to go on the hunt in 2012 or 2013 and I am trying to sell my hunt now that I might recoup my deposit.

The hunt is booked with Bushwhack Safaris in South Africa. I was actually still negotiating the package and had it down to two packages, one of which I was to choose prior to the hunt.

Details of the hunt;

5 Days 5 trophy fee's for:
1 x Kudu
1 x Blue Wildebeest
1 x Impala
1 x Blesbuck
1 x Warthog
Price: US 4 390 1ï¾—1

or

5 days safari, 4 trophies

1. Kudu bull
2. Gemsbok bull
3. Impala ram
4. Warthog
5. Rifle included if not bringing your own

Price: US 4650.00

The hunt is fully transferable and can be done in 2012 or 2013. I have, and will provide a copy of the contract I have with Bushwhack Safaris. I will entertain reasonable offers and appreciate any help someone out there might have to help my and my family out of this most unfortunate situation.

Please send me a private message if you are interested.

Best regards,

John Ambrose

Sad news. I wish you well in your treatment.

I'm a bit surprised at no response. I am genuinely in a bind here and need to try and recoup some expense for my family. I'm willing to entertain any offers on this hunt. The package is a good deal to start, I'm willing to listen to offers, please...

Sorry to hear of this diagnosis, hopefully you can fight thru it. It wont be the first time. Cannot help with the hunt but I do wish you well in the struggle.

My prayers are with you John. I am already booked myself for 2013. The problem you may run into is that at this point most people will have already booked for 2013 or are looking to 2014.

I know this is useless as to your plight. But I am truly sorry for your health issues. I realize prayers and well wishes do not pay the bills but you have both from me.

This is my boy he's fighting leukemia.

Very sadly, John Ambrose lost his battle with a very rare Cancer and will not hunt Africa in this life.

Having just lost a sister in law to this disease I share his families grief and wish them all the best..

This holiday season I'll give thanks for all my blessings.

I will do the same BRICK!

This is all very sad. Those we love don't go away and we all find comfort and strength in our memories. My sincere condolences.

It's always tough to lose one of the family, one of the AH family is no different.

John was within a few weeks of doing his first hunt when he was diagnosed.

So close.....

Condolences and best wishes to the families of John and Wayne for their losses.

be at peace john
you've earned it .

A sad and unfortunate turn of events. Sincere condolences extended to his family and friends.

Does anyone know if his deposit was returned, in full? I would hope so, given the circumstances.

If memory serves me correct he didn't sell the hunt or get his deposit back. I believe some hunters went together and donated money to make him whole on his deposit. Brickburn might remember the details.

I got to know John a.k.a carolinamans on another forum. I'm happy to see that hunters here have also paid tribute to him here as they did there.

Rest in peace brother

Wheels is correct. Carolinasman booked the hunt and paid a deposit something like 4-5 weeks before it was to start. Very short notice. Then it was a couple of weeks after that before he was diagnosed with cancer. The company he booked with refused to refund his deposit. They had already spent a large part of it for that safari. Booked a PH and paid deposits that he couldn't get back. So he decided to adhere to the contract. This has been discussed and rehashed ad nauseum on another forum. It was extremely unfortunate for those involved. My condolences to John's family for his passing. Bruce
