.360 Remington Buckhammer!

"The Americans weren't happy". Until they grabbed a BAR and shot the 20rnd mag in 4 seconds? LOL
Oddly enough is was slow FA and a more rapid FA. No four seconds for twenty rounds.
@CoElkHunter
So the British grabbed the BREN gun about the same weight as the BAR and let loose 30 rounds in the same time.
British win again.
The only thing they couldn't compete with was the big 50 Browning MG so they bought those.
British 2, USA 1.
HA HA HA HA HA HA

Bren gun: ugly, stupid offset sighting system, heavier than hell, rimmed case.
Agreed but … I was still waiting for that wildcat to be mentioned. The state hunting administrations would be better off doing spot safety checks at road ends; to discourage shitheads from loading chambers before heading out and encouraging them to unload completely when they return to the track between their hunting area and the road end. That, however, would require actual outside work with a practical maximum of 20 minutes for lunch and 10 minutes per coffee break.
I don't need a goofball from the state telling me how and when to load my gun. They're pretty worthless in VA. The actual offenders have to basically admit to the crime before they get any real traction.

You guys are bumming me out with this senior life business. I'm 67 and still sharp as a cucumber!
@freefall
That's pretty sharp, considering on my best days I'm as sharp as a bowling ball and I'm only coming up to 65.

@Forrest Halley
The old BREN may be ugly with offset sights but those that used it were deadly with it. It was and is one of the most accurate LOGS around. It was even converted to 308 (7.62×51) and worked extremely well.

I'm betting that Ruger will resurrect the .444 Marlin.

They seem to treating Marlin with the respect it deserves.

@Flewis
Frank the target is a load 2gn over recommended for the malin. 53gn gives the ftx even more balls.
55gn 2219 behind the 280gn Woodleigh was awesome.
Just be prepared for the recoil when you pull the trigger. My mate Greg wasn't. He has a single shot 444 and thought mine would be similar. Man did he get a surprise when that barrel went skyward with the recoil off the bench. Funny as hell the look on his face told the story.
Hang onto your cape batman this is going to be fun.
These loads were SAFE IN MY RIFLE ONLY. NEVER USE IT IN A MARLIN LEVER ACION OR ANY OTHER RIFLE
That good shooting and I like that rifle.

Of course they are! It's a cash cow. Especially with all these midwestern straight-wall deer seasons.

I need at least one cash cow! (it sure could help with an elephant or lion)

Anyway, us Americans have a long standing love affair with the lever action.

I don't want to carry one to Africa, but the Winchester 1894 and the Marlin 336 may have dropped more big game in the US than anything else.

The U.S. Military never adopted lever actions.

Our Army was shooting single-shots until we had to face the mighty Mauser!

Then, we have to find something that could compete at range...

There are too many good new cartridges. This tardhammer isn’t one of them. Less power than a .375 Winchester. Why did they bother? 350 Legend hype was just as bad, but at least the name didn’t suck.

To old levergun shooters, these new cartridges are really offensive. They offer nothing new, but claim to be better. Nobody likes being lied to.

If you're watching a tv commercial you're being lied to. Perils of life in a commercial society.
Everybody wants to think they have the better mousetrap. Or at least make a lot of other people believe it.

According to my late Dad (Tobruk Rat) the Aussies used the Bren as an impro sniper weapon, quite effectively.

Agreed. Not the reason I stopped watching TV at 18 years of age. But yet another reason to never start watching the idiot box ever again.

I hope not. Both would embarrass the blaser brand.
Don't they make a straight wall chambering already? I think it might even be a .45 caliber too.

For sure. The name is lame. I'd like to see a lever gun redesigned with modern technology to have a shorter cycle like the helix. I'd appreciate it if weren't chambered in something that wasn't nouveau riche johnny come lately.

Hey, Brandon's State of His Disaster speech is coming up. Maybe you could watch it and share a synopsis of it with the rest of us? LOL

I'm thinking if Townsend @Bob Nelson 35Whelen bought a Buckhammer lever action, he could have Gary @Von Gruff fashion him a "big loop" lever with the trigger actuator on the lever like Lucas McCain had on the "Rifleman" TV series? Shooting from the hip, he could quickly take care of any threats to his tomato garden from a sounder of pigs, mob of Big Reds or a pack of Tasmanian Devils going after the aforementioned tomato plant eaters?
