I looked at my watch and took this picture thinking that we had run out of day light.

Fantastic, what a great hunt, and a good story!

I thought it was shortly after the hunt but the watch says Wednesday 29, so I thought that would be August. But August 29 was not a Wednesday, so when was it? I am wondering because I am interested in the best time of the year, and thought August/September would be with only little rain, but seems there was quite a bit before your arrival.

I just had a hunt there again mid October.

The best time is May - July it is nice and cool. August and Sep is good. The challenge with October is it is very hot and even if the hunter is strong and used to heat the animals will bed down in the shade from 10:30 - 15:30 daily and feed during the evening and early mornings. So finding the animals becomes a problem.

I don't mind the heat I despise cold so for me it is fine, however if you are form Denmark the heat might be a problem for you.

If I could choose I would go June to August just for human comfort and longer hunting days as you don't have to break between 11;00 - 15:00

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
