ZIMBABWE: Dalton & York Safaris - No Bull, Double Bull

What a great report of a great adventure. Your interaction with the locals added to your experience.
Your first buffalo was good, your second a great old warrior. The hyena and baboon were great trophies. Thanks for taking us along.

If you can't get a hyena at Omay then you should just stop trying anywhere cuz you are eternally jinxed
Yes there are plenty but they are very clever. It is amazing how loud they really are when you get close to them.

Food- Amazing !! The stuff that Chef Stan was able to prepare on a very basic kitchen set up was nothing short of a miracle. We had meticulously prepared game. Even my cape buffalo (spoiler alert), which most describe as chewy, was tender and quite delicious. He also did buffalo liver and onions as an appetizer one night. Additionally, we had bushbuck, impala and guinea fowl stew. On a few evenings we had chicken and one night very nice T-bone steaks. The presentation was stunning and the desserts, oh the Malva pudding and peach tart, were outstanding.

I must make a special note about breakfast. Since we were often leaving before daylight, we packed breakfast to go. The chef would use a round sandwich press to toast two pieces of bread with an over easy egg and bacon inside. He’d trim the edges leaving a toasted, round, yummy, dripping morsel of goodness !! They were called Jaffels (spelling?). I somehow missed getting a picture of this wonderful breakfast delight.
You are killing me!
Everything that comes out of that kitchen is marvelous. THe sauces and gravies, mmmm. I think it is due to cooking slow on a wood stove.
Oh and the Jaffels. I bought my own Jaffel iron when I was there.
Can’t wait!
Philip

Well done, enjoyed the report and congratulations on a great Safari!

Buckwild, just GRAND! All outstanding trophies and so excellent all the nonhunting pictures of life in Zimbabwe!
Thanks!

What a trip ! Thanks for a great report.

What an amazing trip and congratulations all around for those two big bulls and the bushbuck and hyena! Thanks a lot for sharing with us! Waidmannsheil!

So sorry we missed each other in Harare Buckwild, maybe next time. I have yet to hunt the Omay, but will be heading up there for an exploratory trip one of these days. We fish the shoreline in that area, running from a houseboat or Tiger Bay, that too is exciting hunting!

yeah Covid curfew dampened out ability to be out the two nights we were in Harare. You can always come to Texas :D There was a Tiger Bay bush landing strip not far from our camp.

There are always a few pictures you kick yourself for not snapping on these type trips. Getting one of the "Croc Farm International Departure Lounge Zimbabwe" is just one of those this time. It was a small fenced enclosure with a half domed thatched roof over a wood bench under a tree. It really cracked me up. I have even searched the internet for a picture of it to no avail. @rinehart0050 any chance you got one?

Never heard of it, but there are several 'Hiltons' out there in the bush.

I think I have given it sufficient time for comment, but no one has asked how the right horn tip on the first buffalo got shattered :D

My crate has arrived from Zim and has started the clearing process with USFW in Houston. I'm hearing 10-14 days and hope it gets resolved before the holiday vacations start!

Thanks for a great report. I hunted out of that camp several years ago and even stayed in the same chalet without a front wall, you have brought back many great memories.

Getting close to home now !!

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
