Well tonight just gets worse. Now I'm trying an Oliva G Maduro for the first time. Razer sharp burn but terrible terrible flavor - stale harsh burnt meat.
Question for the experts: When you were only a couple years into the hobby, were you disliking more than you like? Do you currently stick to 5-10 favorites or are you always venturing?
Yes, when I was new to cigars I smoke claro wrapped cigars, later on and I means 5-6 years later I turned to the Dark Side and smoked maduro cigars and full body cigars. Macanudo was one of my favorites smokes, and their High Park Maduro was one of the first I tried.
I am surprised the Oliva G was not a good smoke. May want to read the cigar description and go from there. Not all cigars by the same manufacturer will have the same flavor, due to the different filler, binder & wrapper they use.
This is a very complicated subject, and by no means I am an expert.
I like variety. I enjoy sampling cigars that I have never tried before. I usually look up reviews on them before I buy thru Cigar Aficionado, Halfwheel, YouTube reviews, or word of mouth. I dont always like the Cigar, but that's the way it goes. I just won't t buy it again.
Individual palates are all different. I have recommended top cigars that I really enjoy to people I know, and they sometimes don't like those sticks.
I'm a bit of a Cigar nerd, and picky on flavor. I enjoy learning about Cigars and the makers.
This latest order is more of a budget haul on medium range sticks. All quality smokes, but got a good deal on a CI August special.
Bought a box of these La Aurora 1495, that I have had before, and really enjoyed. And.......
I couldn't keep my grubby paws off of them when they arrived.....lol.
I ended up with an Ave Maria Divinia. Wonderful burn and massive smoke but flavor was a tad flat - one dimensional stale earth. I will continue to sample this brand though as I enjoyed the Argentium (sp) and both burned great.
Been awhile since I've had a La Gloria Cubana. Years ago when I was much more of a casual Cigar smoker, La Gloria Cubana used to be one on my go to sticks.
Perdomo Habano maduro...down at a local B&M and picked this up to try something different. Not bad at all but a damn tight draw.
This wasn't the regular shop I go to so I might guess it wasn't stored properly.
Here's to the sweaty dog days of August.....and the hope they are gone soon...LOL. But hey, this is the desert, and it's sweaty into November! Doing some work outside, and getting molested by blood sucking mosquitoes, and I can't find my repellent. Shit.
