Would you be happy?

It looks like the client delivered the first shot. The PHs shot when it charged. And the client put an insurance shot in at the end.

Not sure what the PHs are supposed to do different in that situation.

If an injured buffalo is charging directly at them, the PHs are going to shoot it.

Where do you see the 2nd charge? Both PH are firing away instead of the hunter; the final shot is inconsequential.

I did not ask for justification, or right or wrong. My question is simple: would you be happy with the way it ended, and you were not given the chance to put in the third final shots? Last shot is like stripping a dead man.

I think they were fortunate nobody was injured or killed. It appeared that the hunter’s first shot was too far back. The PH’s responsibility is to keep the hunter safe. I think yes, in a perfect world, it would have e been nice to bring up the hunter for the finishing shots after the charge. Hindsight is always 20/20. My own personal thoughts are once you have a wounded buffalo, kill it by any means necessary.

Yes I’d be happy. You worked as a team to get the first shot. Hunter took it (and looks like a pretty good shot). After that if buffalo doesn’t go down it’s about ending the hunt safely. I tell all my PHs to shoot if they feel the need. It makes no difference to me. I take the first shot and the hunt is a team effort. It’s the same trophy to me either way. I hate hunters trying to say it isn’t their trophy anymore if PH shoots (especially in a case like this where a charge occurred). You should be there for the full experience not just the kill.

completely concur..

I dont know that I'd be "happy"... but I certainly wouldnt be unhappy... I saw the PH's doing their job... and appearing to do it well..

It would suck to not have delivered a kill shot with the first round.. but once the charge is on there is no time to think about it... theres only time to act... and the PH's acted quickly and decisively..

All’s well that ends well. I’m not so sure that the hunter hadn’t lost a bit of his nerve after the charge and wasn’t in a rush to get close enough to shoot when both PHs were shooting after the charge. Just my impression of the video.

I also think the first shot was a bit high and back, if that is actually the case I’d be upset with myself for not making a better first shot but absolutely ecstatic that all involved were safe at the end of the hunt.

Went to the main YouTube site, blew up the vid and watched it in slow motion. The right leg was forward then coming back when he took the shot, of course there is a small bush kinda in the way. I’m not the most technically gifted but I think the shot was about where I made the red mark. I think it’s possible the first shot didn’t get all of the lungs or possibly a bit too far back? He ain’t a whitetail!

If you were the hunter, and the PH had to deliver the kill?
If you mess up your first shot, wound the buff and later he charges all bets are off, the PH will put him down if an opportunity arises

I watched it but couldn’t really sort out what was going on. WTH? Hunter going on a DG buffalo hunt with an orange hat and orange camo jacket? May tell all you need to know about the hunter. I dunno?
IMO, they should all be happy no one was injured or worse!

There was no appropriate wait after the first shot to let the buff stiffen up. Follow up was a bit quick in pace and blundered into the bull. Extremely lucky the bull didn't better pick out a specific target, as he certainly had the hunters dead to rights.
PH only followup after charge was perhaps dictated by the hunters' having run aside from the charge and not fired. Things change as we prove we are ready for prime time or not. Still, it's a hunt for DG. Plenty of adrenalin, given how few actually face a charge at all.

If everyone gets to walk away and go hug their families after that you should be very happy.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
If you as a hunter aren't happy it falls on you. No one is perfect but I would be grateful that they are trained and capable and finished the job.

Completely agree. The client gets the first (which is hopefully last) shot. If it doesn’t work that way, its all hands on deck to get the buffalo down safely for the team involved.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
