I am looking for ideas of hunting boots, I have a 4E wide foot and it's hard to find a good fitting shoe, let alone a boot for hunting. Any ideas of a good hiking boot and good rubber boots. Looking for stuff I can use on Safari as well as chasing local North American game animals. Thanks for any help.

I wear wides, but my feet aren't that wide. I've had good luck with Rocky boots (both leather and rubber boots). I've used the Outback model on two safaris. The sole could be a little quieter, but they're not bad. Very comfortable and have worn well. Almost four weeks of safari and who knows how many miles walking in training.
On my recent safari, I was talking boots with one of the PH's and he likes the 5.11 ATEC. He was saying they have a very quiet sole and have worn well. They do come in wide, but how wide, I don't know.
Russell Moccasin will build to fit but pricey.

Several years back I purchased some Kangaroo hide Upland bird hunting boots from Cabelas in EEEE. I believe they were made/marketed by Browning. As far as rubber boots go, check out MUCK Boots. I bought them one and a half sizes larger than I normally wear.

The wide Courteney boots have a good bit of room laterally...but the toe box tends to be shallow...so if your toes tend to point upward, might want to stay away.

This has not been my experience with my two pairs. Mine are trackers so the model may make a difference. Mine seem to have a lot of vertical space above the toes which is great if you want to wear thick socks.

I run in zero drop minimalist shoes so my feet have splayed quite a bit over the years and have gotten shorter and wide so the courteneys fit great.

Very interesting.

I have the Selous, and could use more room up front.

I even put a couple pairs of socks on a shoe tree and put them in the boots to stretch the leather up front a bit!

Might have to try a pair of trackers. Thanks for the tip!

I believe Russel makes them custom fit to order my your measurements. I have never tried Russel boots though!

I wear a triple e try Russell boots they will make you some. Otherwise I like airats and lacrosse for rubber. Courtney's fit my feet great after break in but they hurt like the devil for the first week.

This is Jim from African Sporting Creations and apologies for those who have tried to get a hold of us using the "contact us" tab. Before we went live with the new site, we tested it twice but an update from the provider after the second test deactivated that function. We are now up and running and please send your questions to info@africansc.com

In terms of Courteney boots, we can fit ladies, mens regular (up to D width) and men with wide feet (up to EE out of the box). If you have toes that point skyward, the Hunter, Safari Ostrich, Hippo and Croc all have a boxed toe that has more vertical room in it. If you want more information, take a look at our Courteney FAQ's or give us a call at 419 529 5599

Thanks for your interest and apologies to 008

Jim

You might lo0k into a pair of Keens made by New Balance they offer a wider than normal toe box

Sorry I'm late in the game.

Russel Moccasin Co can hook you up. They have you measure your foot and make the boot to your specs. Quick search will pull them up. They have all types of shoes and boots. I have a pair of minimalist Thula Thula hunting boots I've warn hunting in Namibia, South Africa and Arizona that I love.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
