Who to restock 1886

I have a new mfg 1886, I want to have it restocked with a recoil pad for shooting heavier loads. The crescent just isn’t working for me.

I sent an email to turnbull waiting to hear back, but are there any other recommendations for who can do this work at a reasonable price.

I would prefer to have it flat with a nice red recoil pad.

You can not cut the crescent butt off and use a recoil pad - the LOP ends up way too short. You have to go with a new stock


I have had Turnbull put shotgun style stocks on 3 1886's. Great work but not fast or inexpensive

Factory spec is a short (to me) 13 1/4” LOP. If it were mine, before I went to the expense of restocking, I’d try building up a spacer on the curved plate using leather strips, foam or some other material and cover it & the butt with a lace-up or Velcro slip-on pad.
